Amahi is what I would use. It is easy to set up and designed for home users.

I was just browsing thru here and read the org post, I have used WHS some, but never really was sold on it. Of course the data corruption problems that were reported on the 1st release didn't thrill me. I have used it since the PPs were released as well.
But this Amahi server looks very interesting to me. Last night I nuked my latest Ubuntu install and installed it on a spare box. Very feature rich IMO, I think I may run this for a while before I move all my data drives over to this box.
I would suggest that anyone considering a centralized NAS/Backup setup take a look at it.
