Hello,

Which 22" monitor are you recommending for computer games?

Is there one or two that stand out as the best?

Thank you

I dont know if it is the best, but I am using an Acer 22" widescreen that runs great and looks awesome. There seems to be always deals going for it, and when I bought mine it was 179.99

GW is the same as BW but with a glossy screen. People tend to prefer the regular screen because the glossy one reflects light back but I think it looks a bit more vivid in the dark.

Hi, the problem with the 2232 is that is does not have the VESA holes in the back to allow any type of mounting on a Tabletop swing arm.

The 2232BW also has a lot more input lag than the 226BW.

The ViewSonic VX2255wmb is probably the best 22" gaming LCD. The LG L226WTQ is another choice. It's really a toss-up between the ViewSonic and the LG. The ViewSonic may have better color quality. The LG may appear less ghosty, although the ViewSonic actually updates faster (lower input lag).

226BW is probably a better monitor than the VX2255 IF you can get the samsung panel. Otherwise I would probably take the viewsonic.

I'd recommend the Soyo 24" LCD at OfficeMax for $299. Great gaming LCD with a true 8-bit, AU Optronics P-MVA (M240UW01) Panel. I have it and it blows my old 22" Acer LCD away. It scales to other resolution nicely, and has hardware scaling to 4:3 resolutions for older 4:3 games.

I am trying to decide between the 2232bw and 226bw. 2232bw looks so nice but I'm afraid of the input lag. 226bw on the other hand regardless of which panel you get should be at least good for gaming, and if you get an S panel by some chance great. There appears to be another model the 2253bw on the way but it's not for sale yet in the USA.

Here is the newer version

Mine has a 4ms resonse time, great picture, and i use it for gaming a lot. Its fast enough, high enough resolution for me, and its awesome. Plus it only cost me 180$

I'm a big fan of cheap LCD.

Got a cheap 22" from V7 in December for myself, and a week later bought another cheap off-brand model from Newegg.

Both have been working just fine. Both were under $200.

He's right.. anything under 8 is usually, or almost always, good enough. Depending on game type 10 can be ok also.

If you have slow-ish internet that will make more differenence then anything else will, especially your monitor.

Even for highly competitive gaming 6-8 is ok. Bragging rights are the only thing you get from a "gaming" monitor at 2 ms

I might get flamed, but he said Monitor and Gaming, so I'm going to recommend a Sony 22" CRT. I bought 5 off Craigslist's last year for $25 bucks a pop. Still using the first one, but bought 5 total so if they start to die I have backups. I plan to use these until wide screen is an absolute requirement. I'm not sold on Wide screen for gaming (yet) all I care about is image quality, and my Trintron's are bad ass. If you want wide screen listen to the others. But if you want the best gaming screen and WS isn't on your "must have" list, then I wouldn't put anything over a good CRT.

No one makes a good CRT anymore though. Seems like you have to buy used.

Also, if you live in a warm climate, the heat from the CRT is definitely NOT welcome.

I have found anything under 6ms response time to be perfectly fine for FPS gaming.

Input lagg? Where? I have the 2232BW and I have never had any problems with input lagg. It is a great monitor, and it looks really really cool.

it was noted on a couple sites in the reviews like behardware and digitalversus. two pretty respectable sites. after reading all the great user opinions of this lcd though I'm beginning to wonder if I should even care and just try it for myself.

i recently switched over to a lcd from my crt, man i love that thing. but yeah i got a LG L226WTQ-BF. and well i love it too. its crisp, clear, and the response time is great. i play lots of fps's and it looks and responds perfect. its a great model and i would recommend it to anyone in a heart beat. i couldnt be happier with the advances in lcd tech. its a far cry from what it used to be. 22" is definitely the sweet spot for price, performance, and size.

also i recommend buying monitors from a actual retailer, i got mine from Best Buy. i think its a good idea mainly for the return policies, especially if you buy an extended warranty. all you need to get a new monitor is one bad pixel compared to the 10s'-20 some manufactures require. also if you can find it onsale its practically the same as the price you would get through an etailer with out the hassle of shipping things back and forth if something is wrong.
