Okay... Now that I have my XBOX, I want a TV tuner that I can use my XBOX with. I would just go out and buy a new TV, but space is tight in my room, so my 17" monitor is going to do. Who recommends what?

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think you need more then a TV tuner to play your Xbox on your computer monitor. All that will let you do is connect a cable source or antenna. I would think you need something with Video In. So you can plug the RCA or S video cables into it, like i do with my PS2 on my Radeon 8500DV.

WinTV model 401
Why? It works as advertized!

Other cards I've used:
Creative Labs Videoblaster Digital VCR (avoid like the plauge, it's sitting on my floor right now)
3Dfx VoodooTV 200 (not bad, drivers never had a chance though)
STB TVPCI (not bad, but not that good either)

Just about any quality TV Tuner will also have RCA or s-video inputs.

Newegg is supposedly shipping the leadtek deluxe version instead of the non-deluxe, even though it doesn't say it's the deluxe version on the site.

ATI TV cards have been having lots of problems w/ Windows XP and any other NT based OS. Still common in 98 even. I'd avoid it, but some lucky people have been able to get it to work.

I would reccomend a Hauppage WinTV Go card if you just want a basic one (its mono though). You can probably find it for liek $20-$30 once in a while during a sale. Otherwise go w/ a higer model Hauppage that has stereo.. or you can go w/ the Leadtek which I heard is pretty good (but Leadtek is out of business so don't expect much support).

A TV Card will have the Video In for you, so all you'll need then is the audio in though. You'll have to get a cable say from liek radio shack for ~$5 so you can have the X-Box do sound in to your sound card.

I like my Leadtek TV2000 XP Deluxe.

"or you can go w/ the Leadtek which I heard is pretty good (but Leadtek is out of business so don't expect much support)."...
You may be thinking of VisionTek or ELSA. I haven't heard anything about Leadtek going under.

I just got the same card delivered yesterday. It is one awesome board (picture in picture capability, FM receiver, remote control - this board is loaded and Leadtek did it right.) - $60.99 - delivered from Newegg.com.

My ATI works great. It's integrated in my AIW, but I assume it's basically the same as a TV Wonder. I've had 0 problems with he software or hardware and it has the best picture quality of the Leadtek or Hauppauge's I've tried. The Gemstar Program Guide is a VERY nice feature as is the Remote wonder if you can find one.

That is correct. I did receive the "Deluxe" version from them on Friday.

What's the difference between the deluxe and the regular version?

If I remember right, the Deluxe version features time-shifting and the standard version doesn't.

You've come to the right man.

If you have an ATI card get the TV Wonder. Not the TV Wonder VE because it lacks stereo sound which is worth the extra $10.

On a GF3 rig I tried a Leadtek TV2000XP and the picture quality was bad. I then switched to an Avermedia AverTV on a 8500 rig and realized that AverMedia doesn't work with ATI Radeon cards.

The Asus sounds decent, but, then again, so did the Leadtek.

I don't believe the video card has anything to do with the quality of the video display because it's just an overlay. I believe the quality lies in the chip on the TV card.

I have this exact combination, the installation of the tv wonder was finicky, but I did manage to get it to work. Although when launching the TV App I get a garbled image, holding down ctrl whil it starts sometimes works, but if you change the display color from 32 to 16 then back again fixes this. It records perfectly

I have the PCTV. The drivers for XP are flaky. Support is near non-existent. I don't recommend this card. That's just MY opinion, ofcourse. Read their forums for details.

i have an ATI TV Wonder usb edition. Don't get one of these. The video quality is a bit lacking, there's no stereo sound(and the mono is sucky), and there is a delay in the picture/sound which will make game play all but impossible. You obviously aren't on a lappy, which is the only reason why i would (and do) use this one
