Recommendations for top quality Nvidia card maker (no EVGA)?

I want to get a GTX 680. I do not want an EVGA (had problems with 3 EVGA cards over the last four years, one would not display anything from day one.)

What is a top quality brand for Nvidia cards?

When my motherboard or PSU caused a short and burned the 24 pin power connector on both the mobo and the PSU, they cross shipped next day with a CC#. It was pretty painless.

I snagged a PNY 680 GTX from J & R sales in NY via their website. Cost a little more$579 but has a $30 rebate. Very nice card and they were very fast with shipment. I normally buy from the Egg but these 680s are hard to find. After getting it last night I know why. What a sweet powerful card. BTW most are refence cards with the respective companies putting their stickers on them.

It's all the same to me, I just look at the warranty and EVGA always comes out on top. Sounds like you had bad luck with them but their warranty should have covered your issues. I wouldn't hesitate to rock a Galaxy or Gigabyte card in addition to Asus and MSI.

All of them are pretty good. I haven't had trouble with any particular brand. EVGA is first for me, but ASUS and MSI would be a close second. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a Gigabyte either.

Yeah they're dogs. They tried to deny my motherboard RMA for "bent pins" when there was nothing wrong with them. :thumbsdown::thumbsdown:

I don't know if they still do, but years ago they used to do a lot of parallel importing of products. Often those goods don't have a warranty unless supplied by the retailer. If you wanted to be certain you should be able to find out from PNY with your cards serial number.

I've heard both ways about Asus.

I have to say that Asus is at the top of my list of favorite manufacturers, but at the same time, they do seem to have a bit of a loose wheel when it comes to service and sometimes even manufacturing. I'd say their engineering is top notch, at least for their premium products, and that is the main thing that puts them at the top of my list. Most of the time most people won't have a problem with product or service, but on occasion people just get that service rep that acts like the money is coming out of his pocket and all customers are idiots. (That can happen with any company, but I do seem to read more complaints about Asus.)

Reference cards are identical. So it doesnt matter if you get Asus, MSI, Zotac, Inno3D, Gigabyte etc. Its first when they mess around with the cards things change.

same here, in my case it was a monitor that had trouble. It took a few days to receive a good working unit for me. If you give them your credit info to put a hold on it and cross ship it is a painless matter...Doing a traditional RMA is another story and Asus has a bad rep with that.

I was an EVGA user from 2002 - 2011, all they way from a Geforce 4 Ti 4200 to a 9800GT.

Last fall I had to RMA my 9800GT and got back a card which started to exhibit the same problems (unable to load drivers, no 3D) the card i sent back did only a week after receiving it.

I switched to an ASUS GTX 460 768MB which was the highest rated version of that card here at AT. I like the custom cooler and it runs much quieter and cooler (as it should at .40nm).

However, the recently announced EVGA warranty changes may entice me to go back to them when the time comes.

Hear good things about MSI, ASUS, Galaxy.

PNY and HIS have bad reputations. PNY has a poor warranty feature where the warranty ends once a card is no longer being manufactured. HIS supposedly does not send earned rebates in some cases.

lolz I didnt know you could be selective when choosing a 680. You see one grab one simple as that. But to answer I'd feel comfortable with any of them except PNY. No real market presence plus price gouging.
