AT users dont know much about modifying cars

While going to nasioc.com is sound advice, I completely disagree with the available knowledge about cars on these forums. Some of the garage members have a massive amount of knowledge about automobiles, whether they be domestic or import. The problem is not with us, it is with you.

If you don't do what you do just to be a troll, then I honestly feel sorry for you. I can only imagine how being so incredibly inept at accepting facts (or at least respecting another's opinion) would cripple your ability to interact socially with another individual for any extended period of time. You have consistently shown that you are useless except for being a blind fanboy, and are only able to comprehend things that fit within your limited world view.

You were fun to pick arguments with for a short time, then you were funny to laugh at, but now it's getting old. I really wish someone would ban you, but at this point it's clear it won't happen. I for one, will never reply to a post of yours again.

Grow the fuck up,
CrazySOB

I think LOUISSSSS is the Garage version of Rollo. He probably gets paid from one or all of the Japanese companies to spread their rhetoric.

The problem is we know the difference between modding and ricing, and 98% of the stuff that is brought up is ricing. LOUISSSSS probably got flamed for ricing and now goes around saying AT garage users don't know anything about modding cars or don't approve of it.

Have fun with your build, whatever it is.

If I'm a moron for wanting a challenge and to build something with my spare time just to say I did, so be it. =)

As long as we're clear on that.

Anyway - the intake really doesn't matter worth a crap. Does it have a relatively straight, decent-diameter, un-kinked tube through which to suck air that has some type of filter on the end of it? Okay then, problem solved.

I'm guessing this isn't a turbo model?

I'd have just bought the GT. I've driven one and they are quite nice and fun to drive.

I have a long block from my 2007 STI available for sale in about a month. If you want to really make it a sleeper I believe its a direct fit (not 100% sure for the N/A)

IMHO you would be better off making a monster out of a GT and making it look like a 2.5i.

Or start by buying RGUN's motor, shoving an FMIC and a custom ECU into the mix, but yeah, GT as a start point would have been a better choice.

I'm sure it's the 175 hp na motor that you really can't do squat with. OP should do himself a favor and check out: http://legacygt.com/forums/
With a 700+ hp ($80,000) truck it should be no problem to drop $20K on a Subie but if you want a sleeper why not get a Kia Spectra?

I actually find it slightly funny that I have to justify anything. Don't get me wrong, I can totally appreciate your opinion, it's just amusing to me that everyone seems to think I'm retarded and just bought a non GT without understanding what was involved.

I picked up the 2008 Legacy at an absolute steal. Brother bought his wife an A4 and they gave me the Legacy for about 1/3rd it's blue book as partial repayment for massive amount of labor that went into wiring network, audio, and interactive security systems into their proverbial mansion (I probably should have become a lawyer like my brother instead of a Network Engineer). I'm somewhat sentimental and I like to keep things "in the family" so to speak, so I've become determined to turn my sister in law's car into my new kit car. Sure, I could probably sell it, bank, and get a GT and mod from there - but there is absolutely no fun in that and this is something I WANT to spend a few years of my free time on so I don't see how skipping the most challenging steps accomplishes my goal.

This has probably all been said, but I'll chime in. The hood scoop is for the cooling the intercooler and isn't part of the intake system. There aren't any stealth scoops - the legacy GT scoop is pretty subdued already compared to the ones on the Impreza. If you want to eliminate the scoop and be low key, get a front mounted intercooler and paint it black.

I wasn't saying don't do it.

So you are basically going to be re-configuring the entire setup beneath your hood and you want us to tell you where a good place for the intake is?

If you want good information from people on an internet forum on this sort of thing, you need to supply us with everything you can. Just state in the OP that you are going for 600+ awhp and that replacing the entire drive-train is a foregone conclusion. That would have eliminated all of the "buy a GT instead" comments.
