Recommended additives for water cooling fluid

I'm in Alaska and I can't seem to find water wetter anywhere in town (and shipping is way too much to buy it out of state). Anyone have any recommendations for other additives that help with corrosion resistance and biological growth that I might be able to find at a Wal-Mart or something?

I've seen some radiator additive stuff that looks like it would work. Anyone tried that generic stuff?

dont use anti freeze unless your cooling the water below freezing, it will hurt your cooling otherwise


stuff called Purple Ice performs about same as water wetter


if you cant get it local post on the for sale forums wanting to buy some , i'm certain someone can help you out

Use a very small drop of dishwashing detergent like Dawn.

Evans NPG Coolant. Better than water. Better than water with RedlineWater Wetter. Non-toxic (unlike antifreeze). Inexpensive and readily available.

Royal Purple Purple ice kicks ass.
as does zerex racing additive.
as for anti-growth use betadine...works great and has an awsome side effect of patching small leaks

No need to run anything other than water (and maybe a drop of dish soap if you're so inclined). Your computer doesn't generate enough heat to boil the water in your system.

NPG will not lower your temperatures. It only allows you to run higher temperatures before boiling. Your computer will crash long before you reach the boiling point of water, even if your pump fails.

Three ounces of something like water wetter and 6ml of algacide to steam-distilled water will keep you flora and fauna free for extended periods and at a PH of 7-8. :thumbsup:
