Recommended fan for SLK-900?

I see this HS supports 92mm fans and I've been looking at the TT-9025A-2B (90mm, 56CFM, 35dba) and the L1A (92mm, 42.7CFM, 27dba). Would these be enough for an o/c'd 1700+ @ 2.3GHz(-ish), ambient 80-85F? any preferences?

Thanks

Thanks for asking this question. Your stats are just like mine right down to the degree. Is it an NF7-S by any chance?

I'm actually thinking about upgrading to an 1700+ and NF7-S, though i'm not sure if i will go with an SLK900 or go watered. I want a quiet(er) case for a change. My current HS is an Alpha 8045

After I started a thread asking about 92mm fans I found this table with way more fans than you really want. But it has all the info you want.

http://www.silentpcreview.com/files/fanspecs/fanspecs.pdf

It seems that L1A series has some competition from NMB Tech regarding their specs, but I haven't looked for any reviews or prices yet.

And I agree with the Thermaltake point. Can't really trust them.

It looks like we're looking for the same combo right now, so here are the places that look more promising so far:

SKL-900 at SVC http://store.yahoo.com/svcompucycle/soca4cool.html

L1A at Directron

At directron they also sell the Zalman fan bracket, which can be very handy if you decide to use a 120mm fan for your HS. I have something similar right now in addition to my old Taisol HS/Fan combo, and I've been keeping my 1700@2.xGHz under 40c. In L.A.!!!

My Taisols were rated 38 and I thought they were too loud. So now I'm shooting for 33 and under. Much under if possible, that's why I'm contenplating the idea of hanging a 120mm just above the heat sink.

GeekSupportCom, just to let you know. I went to newegg and bought an SLK-900 and a Zalman 92" that comes with a fan bracket and a little resistor that allows me to slow down the fan to make it quieter. The fan is rated at 36.1dBA and 53.CFM, but it goes down to 20dBA and 'god knows what' CFM if I use this little resistor.

Since I was in a buying spree(got some memory too), I also bought Zalman's ($5) FanMate, which allows me to regulate the speed of a fan. Don't know how good the fan and the other gizmos will be, but it will give some fun trying to get the most out of it.

Newegg may not have the best price for the HS, but since I was buying other stuff and they deliver real fast in L.A., I decided that it was worth the extra few bucks.

Will let you know what happens in a couple days.

for ultimate quietness: panaflo 92mm L1a, u can even run at the fan at 7v or 5v for less noise.

for ultimate performance: vantec tornado 92mm, but you will go deaf probably.

of course these are 2 extremes!

I use an 80mm panaflo L1A on my slk-800. My overclock is in my sig. I was at 42C under load until I put in a duct from my side panel to my cpu. Now I'm at 36C.
It's possible that 92mm fans won't work quite as well because the hub is bigger, thereby not getting as much air to the middle of the heatsink where it needs it most. But I havn't tried one.
In any case I would recommend the panaflos. They are quiet and the quality of the noise they do make is good- not whiney at all, more of a hum.

How much bigger is the hub though? I don't think it's a significant difference between 80 and 92 mm fans, well, not as considerable as the diff between 80 and 120mm fans. The ball bearing panaflos do create significant vibrational noise which is enough to bother me, but I'm just one picky S.O.B.

dumb question of the day: what do you mean by "hub?" The only hub i know of is the device that connects computers on a network
