Just curious what some of you would recommend for a heat sink and heat sink fan on a AMD64 3200 skt939 on a MSI neo2 platinum board all going to be inside a Lian Li pc65 case. THanks!

If you want the best, look at Thermalright's XP90 or XP120. You need to buy a fan with these.

If you want a good all around heatsink with a fan for less, Thermaltake's SilentBoost K8 is around $30. Zalman's AlCu quiet heatsink is very quiet and effecient; has almost universal praise and is also around $30.

If you want some good retailers for heatsinks and other cooling supplies, check out SVC.com and Jab-Tech.com. Newegg also carries most of these items but their prices are typically higher.

Like jpeyton said, i would get the xp90 with a panaflo or a zalman alcu.
The xp120 is better at cooling but doesnt fit on most motherboards, dont know about the neo2.

the venus 12 is very very loud and a not so good cooler. For the same price you can get a super quiet, great cooling zalman alcu.

I've heard good things about the xp-90 and the zalman. for the extra money, is there gonna be a big difference between the zalman and the xp90 and a 92mm fan? this is one area on my new build i don't mind dropping a few extra bucks ( unlike the cpu.....i'm not dropping 8 bills on a fx55

the TT Venus 12 is a very good cooler and the speed can be turned down from 2000-5500 rpm. It moves a lot of air, and at 3000-3500rpm (moving A LOT of air) it produces around 30db's of noise from what i've heard. Also, it's only $30!

Stay clear of Thermaltake...

Alpha, Thermalright, and Zalman are really the top choices to be looking at.

There really won't be much of a differance between the two. Overall the Thermalright should perform a bit better.

The silent-boost can be had for $25 or so from MWave. I had this but it's ANYTHING but silent. On silentpc forums...people complained of the same high pitched whir that I had heard so it wasn't just me. I ended up swapping a Panflo L1A fan and it made a world of difference. HOwever, that just meant that I should've gone for a better HS to begin with considering the cost of the fan.

The Coolermaster Hyper6 is extremely good if you don't mind the size/weight. They're comparable with the Thermalrights.

Very happy with the Zalman 7000A AlCu in mine.Efficient & quiet(looks neat too,but I could really care less about that since my cae is closed and not a disco inferno box to beging with)
I don't overclock either, but tried it a little bit just for kicks and heat wasn't a problem, although I think at extreme overclocking levels you might be better served with the XP-120 if you can fit it.
