I think what made Goldeneye so great was the gameplay variety and the combination of stealth and "run and gun." First of all, almost every mission was different (even if it took place in an area you'd already been through). Second, to survive harder difficulties, you had to be careful. When your cover was blown (e.g. a camera saw you or somebody triggered an alarm), you really had to worry. On top of that, harder difficulties weren't just about enemies that could take more damage. You also had to complete more objectives, so there was a lot of replay value (not to mention trying to unlock cheats and 007 Mode).

Also, at the time, there was simply nothing like the multiplayer available anywhere else. There were probably more than 100 different ways to play with friends, and the plethora of actually different weapons required a player to use a fair amount of strategy to be effective.

[EDIT] Then there was the whole "wait while two friends take each other down to low hp and then run in and kill them both." That was my favorite. [/EDIT]

Awesome, but aggrivating.

Diddy Kong Racing can be fun, but it's short lived. Get that if you can pick it up for really cheap.

Oh, right! Diddy Kong Racing is awesome, too. Kinda childish, but if you can get past that, it's much better than Mario Kart 64.

Disclaimer about Mario Kart 64:
I will NEVER be able to accept cheating computer opponents. That ruined the entire game for me. One time, I hit a computer oppenent with a shell, picked up a question mark, and triple mushroomed past him (all with the finish line in sight). The freaking guy beat me to the finish line without using items. If that doesn't disgust you, I don't know what will.

About Blast Corps: I had the same opinion until I picked it up again a few weeks ago. It actually only took a me a few nights of play to get gold medals on all the normal levels (including the other planets). If you get the chance, pick it up again. I'd be surprised if you find it as difficult as you once did.

Cruisin USA? i know the greatness of games is subjective, but i thought that this game was widely accepted to be the worse racing game ever produced for a system outside of Cosmic Race for the Playstation.

Gold medals aren't too bad... I'm talking about getting platinums

In that case, I'm humbled. I pretty much considered myself done when I finished all the golds. It really doesn't matter if ever get the platinums, and I'm the only one who'd care. I'd rather spend that time playing new games.

Ive only played a little bit of it but personally i thought ocarina of time was much better. but i think its probably because it was new and the wow factor added to it.

No one mentioned Zelda:Mask of Majora?

Anyhow, the one game you need to get is Ogre Battle 64.

Well, on the first page I didn't see it, so Turok and Turok 2. T2 has an excellent multiplayer mode. Be the raptor.

Most of the others I've seen I agree with.

The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time is the best game for N64.
WCW vs NWO: Revenge
Turok: Dinosaur Hunter
Mortal Kombat 4
Super Mario 64
