Recommended non-nForce2 AMD motherboard?

My nForce2 motherboard recently died and I was going to replace it with another nF2 board but just found out that an HDTV card I'm buying has issues with that chipset. I already have an Athlon XP or I'd consider switching to a P4 setup. Can anyone suggest a stable sub-$100 board? Is the KT600 chipset the closest competitor to the nF2 right now? Pretty sad if it is because Anand's KT600 benchmarks were significantly slower than the nF2 boards.

For overclocking nothing even compares...but I guess a KT600 would be an alright setup, although I hate VIA with an extreme passion. Damn 4-in-1's always jacked up my old kt33 and kt266 board.....Other than that I don't know much details about any KT600 boards but just look around for one with the features you need and use the search function for other threrads about kt600 or kt400 boards.

Well, there's not that many options out there for socket A, once you've eliminated nForce2. Either Via KT600, SiS 748 or something older.

The Soltek SL-KT600-RL is a great KT600 board for $78 shipped at da egg. It's solid and stable, has SATA RAID, 6ch audio, LAN, and it's a cool purple color.

Via has a new Socket A chipset coming out soon, it's the KT880. Dual channel DDR is just one feature of this chipset. Abit has announced that they are going to make boards implementing this chipset, the first one is called the Abit KV7II. I wouldn't go with a Via-based board until this new chipset is out on the market.

I havn't used a SIS748 yet but I have used a SIS746FX and it's the most stable motherboard I've ever owned, I've not a single crash since I purchased it 6months ago. From what I've been told the SIS748 is even better than the SIS746 so I recommend the SIS748!
