Record digitizing what pop scratches removal software suggestions

I will be recording, digitizing old vinyl, records. What software removes pops and scratches do you suggest?
My friend uses the Audigy with the software that came with it specifically for that card.
I have a Philips acoustic edge what can I use to get the same or better results with my card?
any fine free software if not does Adobe have a good pop and scratching removal software?

Nyone have experience with this?

I've heard of other applications for this, but I've done it simply using Nero Wave Editor. Along with trying out various filter settings, I sometimes will manually isolate major scratches, nearly muting minute portions that are damaged, and it results in a smooth seamless repair that you wouldn't even notice.

I know that sounds laborious, but for stuff I want to preserve a bit of effort has paid off

I use Adobe Audition 1.5 for pop and scratch removal. It can do an amazing job.

hmmm I have that program on my broken computer. I am waiting for my Bios chip for an Asus K8n-e deluxe motherboard. so I can access my computer. They shipped it last monday UPS ground to Hawaii LOL. I have images of UPS driving on water to Hawaii, where I live.
I used to use Audition for making a music copulation for an hour and a 1/4 of dancing. So I will look into its other capabilities, I suspected it can do that.

Was the help file on doing that easy? If you have any suggestions of how you actually do the removal of the pops and scratches it would be sweet. prepair me before I acces the program

So I read up on this.

I wash the records with water and a little soap
I heard there is a special fluid that fills in the scratches a bit to give a smoother sound. any names or brands come to mind?


I understand I need a preamp or an integrated amplifier with a preamp.
1. plug in the record player into the phono jacks
2. output the sound into the input of the sound card I have.
3. I am assuming the digitizing will be done by my sound card.
4. A question I will need to name the file and save it for the entire record ( but is this where adobe audition will come up?) or that is later after I have a file?

5. I now need to discover where the songs ended and cut them with adobe Audition after I remove the pops and scratches or after I cut each song?

6. I save them as individual files (waves) and later use the waves to rip into MP3s so I have both the CD and the mp3s?

I looked up the nero wave editor and downloaded the manual.

So did you actually digitize records to CDs ? what steps did you do it through from hooking up the record plAYER.

a LONG TIME AGO i HEARD OF SOMEONE USING ONLY THE RECORD PLAYER DIRECTLY INTO THE MICROPHONE PORT. anyone try this way? and what software records it and which one edits it or are both done by the same software?
