i recently purchased a hoontech db3 digital output card to go with my SB live! and i have a sony mz-r91 md player.. for some reason when i record i can't get the md to start recording a new track when the song changes... the funny thing is, my roommate has almost the exact set up as mine.. even the same minidisc, but his records with the track separation... does anyone have any suggestions

Um...ask him?
What program are you using to record MP3's? Mind doesn't either, but if you're using Winamp, download something called WinCue. It puts however many seconds separation in between mp3's automatically. Then you can add track marks later.

yah i'm already using one of those... the things is that my MD player has this synchro-recording thing that automatically starts a new track when the song changes while it's recording.. i looked at my roommates setup and they're the same as mine.... arg...

Dude, You have to leave at least 2 seconds after u stop the first track before you record the second track. Give it 2 seconds or more then play the second song. Try it.

Maybe theres outside noise coming in? Mute all the stuff you don't need on for recording

I have the same problems with a slightly different setup. Platinum 5.1 drive and a Sony r50 recorder. I've taken out all the sound themes off, but the sound settings... that's worth a try, I'll try muting various items to see how I can get the pause to work.

Could you let us know your exact settings under the wav properties in your task bar? What you have muted and such?

Using optical, that's why it's weird, I have all the sounds turned off for everything else except Winamp, but there must be something making noise that would warrant an optical signal. I used a different pause plugin. I'll go try WinCue now...

Nah, that's the entire point of optical, you get a clean signal with no hisses and other background noises that are sometimes evident in analog connections. Anyway, if you are going to try analog, the track markers well DEFINITELY not work. If you were going to use analog, then there was no point in getting the platinum. You could have use any normal soundcard and connected the recorder to the speaker output. Although some have said the differences between optical and analog are minimal, I beg to differ.

Yup, Synchro recording is on... although I muted the microphone. Focusyn thinks that might have something to do with it. I'll try unplugging the mic and see how that goes.

hmm... well are all four of your connection points dust free? What kHZ do you have ur optical out set on? something too low could make pops and such I think.

I think I discovered what my problem is-Its a damn hiss I get from the cd-audio line. When i use creative minidisc center it un-mutes it and then there is this annoying hiss. So when i set up a multiple track list to record, my minidisc recorder detects the hiss so it cant tell when a song ends-it still hears the hiss and doenst switch to a new track.

Try muting all your volumes except for the Wave and the master Volume. I'm recording through optical channel and WILL NOT go back to analog. There has been a saying that the difference is minimal. Hell that was way wrong! The difference is well notable.
