There are many other apps out there too, like R-Studio for one. But the drive normally has to be at least recognized in the OS to use it.
Good luck
Just got to say thank you. I had a hard drive with three windows partitions on it that crashed and become completely unusable while doing a new install of W7 a few months back. I bought a new hard drive and have since tried more than a half dozen programs trying to recover my data. DiskInternals allowed me to recover a small amount of data, and nothing else worked at all. GetDataback wouldn't recognize the drive at all, assuming I am using it right.
However, I just tried R-Studio and it recovered my entire drive. Every picture, every doc, every program, every video... Everything!!! I am talking about 600 GB of data and so far, every bit of it that I have tested is usable. This program recovered everything, after having less than 2% luck over the course of two weeks before I finally gave up.
Thanks again, I am super grateful for the recommendation as I thought my data was gone forever. I can't thank you enough, and I give high recommendations for R-Studio and I have tried quite a few of them.
p.s. I realize this probably reads like a cheezy testimonial, but I am pretty thrilled to have just recovered all my data.
