Came across another KKK group, tossed dynamite, took em all out, looted them, looted their horses. Good times! Also came across yet a third group, wont say what happened as it was actually hilarious just letting the scene play out!

Just be aware of random inviting you into their house. I went in because I figured I could rob them but they ended up getting me drunk, robbing me, and throwing me in a ditch out back. I went back, killed them and looted their whole house, got all my money back and even some more, threw a Molotov and burned the house down lol.

I'm loving the random events in this game. So much more diverse than GTAV. This game is well worth the eight year wait!

Agreed the random encounters in this game are well thought out. Same with the gunslinger hunts and side missions. It also pays off to help randoms because sometimes you will find them in a town and they will offer you a free item or gun by letting you put it on their tab. I'm sure there are a lot more random events I haven't ran into. I also notice if you see someone getting taken to jail and you free them, they give you robbery tips.

Also looks like red dead 2 will get a big upgrade in the future. Looks like there are rumors of Xbox 2 and ps5 in 2020 or late 2019.

Something interesting happened to me last night while I was playing. I was sitting outside the gunsmith with my white Arabian horse at about 5am in St Denis. I'm in chapter 4, don't know if that is important or not - or how much any of that is important. A black Arabian horse just straight up walked up to me, had a saddle and all that. I calmed it down, gave it some pats, and hopped on. I told my horse to follow us and escaped from the lawmen (this counted as horse theft). When I was in the clear i took a closer inspection of the horse. It was malnourished. I wonder if it came up to me because of my well taken care of Arabian horse.

Well I went with the Xbox One X with the $100 off when purchasing RDR2. It also came with Fallout 76 which is awesome if I can stand playing it on a controller. If so I won't have to buy it on PC, woot! I think I got one of the last few Xboxes at Gamespot (I went Saturday afternoon) and they sold the last PS4 pre-order RDR2 game when I was there. I wasn't sure I'd actually get a game and system but I did.

I haven't played a ton yet so far but I think it's pretty amazing even though I haven't gotten very far through it. I watched a video yesterday of fails while riding a horse in cinematic mode... LOL.

I cant play most things with a game pad anymore. the SNES days are long gone.
Will need to wait for a Windows 10 version of just accept I wont play the coolest game ever made.

I was so excited for this game I was going to buy an Xbox One S just to play it. I think there's probably a decent chance of it coming out on PC, but Jesus, I really don't want to wait two years or so for that to happen. That's why I got a job, to buy shit man!

But today I discovered that you can't play the game at 4K on the Xbox One S? What the poop is that? The Xbox One S supports 4K HDR! Here's RDR2 info from Xbox's website:

Ugh, really? My co-worker told me about the Gamestop deal and that's how I find out about this: Buy RDR2, save 100 on Xbox.

You dang right that's confusing. The specs for the Xbox One S say it supports Ultra 4K, but that must only apply to video/Blu-ray watching. If you'e talking about games, I guess it just upscales to 4K and doesn't render at that natively?

Huh. Well... maybe I'll just get the Xbox One S anyway. I'm pretty sure the game won't look like trash if you play it on the One S, and I'm not one of those super critical people when it comes to this sort of thing. I'm just not sure getting a One X would be worth it as I'm not much of a gamer as it is! I'm only interested in getting an Xbox for RDR2, LMAO. Well, the 4K Blu-ray player is cool too haha.

Decisions! With the $100 discount, I'd be looking at $200 for the S version and $400 for the X version (at their normal prices). I'm strongly considering S version at this point.
One S has 4K HDR video (Bluray, Netflix, YouTube, etc.). Games are ~1080 HDR only on One S. You need the One X for 4K games.

One S supports 4K games, but not natively. You can still game in 4K if you have the One S. Read the 3rd paragraph.

the one s doesnt have the horsepower to run EVERY game at 4k.

You people need to understand that resolution is not the determining factor in frame rate. There are many things vying for a GPU's attention. I can run Unreal Tournament at ridiculous resolutions and get 400 frames per second because the models are simple, the textures are tiny, and theres very little lighting.

This dinky incremental updates to the Xbone just illustrate why you need faster computers to do more. I dont know WHY sony and microsoft decided to slowly upgrade their consoles. its kinda new in the console community, but they seem to think its best.

I have to go back and play the first again now. Killing Dutch and Bill is going to be much more satisfying, to say the least. Damn I hate Dutch! And the repeater shotgun is beastly. I had a "WTF! that was amazing" moment the first time it vaporized someone's head. This game and GoW alone, are worth the price of admission for a Pro IMO. PC gamers that refuse to buy consoles are seriously missing out. I am looking at you Shorty. And the pro has good kyb&m support. Just tweak the settings to get it as tight as possible. It will not be as precise as PC, but it will do the job since you are unwilling to embrace the learning curve of a controller.

OK, name me one game that plays in 4K on the One S. (upscaling is not 4K, your 4K TV already upscales all content to 4K).

Not sure I have to??? I said it doesn’t support it natively. Did you read the link? It’s right off the Xbox support website. Reading it makes me wonder what type of signal is passed through because if it was simply upscaled, why is the original Xbox one not mentioned on their support site stating it would be upscaled?

Because the One S has a 4K upscaler while the original One does not. Most/all 4K TV has a 4K upscaler also so it is a matter of which upscaler is better. Either way I cannot see how you can claim the One S supports 4K games when it doesn't. Using that logic an Atari 2600 supports 4K since it is upscaled to 4K in the TV.

Look, it’s right off the Xbox support page. I’m not claiming it...they are. I simply provided the link claiming other wise to your previous post in my original response . By your own post it has an upscaler built in, if you want to keep arguing this, read the entire page I linked and take it up with Microsoft.

I think the whole point is the article is stating it will display 4k uhd for videos and content but games on the one s will get upscaled. PS4 pro also does not play games in native 4k, they are either upscaled to 4k with checkerboard rendering in some games, or they are at 1440p resolution.

The one X plays red dead 2 in native 4k. Since I have the game for both consoles (Xbox that I ended up with came with red dead 2), I do see a much crisper detailed image and better draw distance on the Xbox vs the PS4 pro.

It still looks super nice on the pro as well but you don't get all the nice small details that are sharper in native 4k.

Which is what my original post pointed out. Won’t play native 4K. Thank you for being the voice of reason.

Finished the game last night on my PS4 Pro. What a ride it has been. I am going to dust off my xbox one S and replay the first RDR game. It has much more meaning now.

Thanks for not spoiling anything. I'm still in chapter 3. Actually got there this past week after being on chapter 2 forever.

I also plan on going back and playing red dead 1 on the Xbox because I never got to finish it when that game came out. Unfortunately I already know what happens as that was spoiled a while ago for me.

Would you recommend playing 2 before 1? Have them both in my very long backlog, wonder which I should play first.

2 is a prequel to 1. It would make sense to play it this way but the only thing is you will get used to the graphics and gameplay plus whatever they added to 2 vs the original. This may make it harder to play 1 after.

If i had never played 1 before I would definitely play 2 first. It will make 1 that much more better.

I don't know how soon I'm ever going to finish this huge game. I'm still on chapter 4 and I got this on release day. I usually take forever to finish games.

I'm torn between starting another game or just trying to get 100% completion on the current game. I'm at 82%. Restated RD1 on my xbox one s, and yes, the graphics are dated but still enjoyable.

I've had the game since release day and I'm on chapter 3. 26% story complete and like 46% overall. I haven't uncovered the whole map yet but I've been trying to catch most of the legendary fish.

I feel like the game kind of pushes you to do the story. It doesn't seem to have as many side quests as I thought it would.

There's plenty to do outside of missions though. Plenty of challenges, people to rob, trains to rob, banks to rob, animals to rob, and rival gangs to rob.
