Woohoo! Finally up for pre-order on Steam. Also, it's an extra 10% off (20% off total) if you already own the original Red Orchestra. So basically you're paying $30 for a fantastic PC-exclusive game that will likely last for years with professionally-made mods and support.

Sadly it'll probably end up being outsold 5x by BF3.

It's really everything BF3 should've been: PC exclusive, 64 players, prone/lean, mod support, commander, good squad system, etc.

Ah well... if it needs more polish, let them polish. I have plenty of other games to occupy my time until then.

Edit: Also, it will give me time to focus on the first couple weeks of school.

Last minute delays in the games that have been released recently really does nothing to inspire confidence in me that this game will not suck.

I've been burned by purchases far to often lately. I'm looking at you brink.

That being said I am really hoping that this game is as good as it's looking from the media they have released.

I'm pretty much buying this game no matter what to reward companies who buck the trend of using too many noobifications just for sales, cough BF3 cough...

I'm not saying I want realism sims, I don't really enjoy ArmA, but stamping out all depth and complexity completely isn't what I'm looking for either.

ArmA 2 was another really disappointing game. The environments and vehicles were spot on. But I should not feel like I'm driving a tank simulator when I'm playing as infantry in a game. In real life a person doesn't have to think to use their body. In ArmA 2 they made the infantry controls far to complicated to be any fun. Could you imagine CoD infantry gameplay with recoil in ArmA? That's a game I want to play.

Usually when I imagine transplanting infantry gameplay, it's that I imagine transplanting Battlefield gameplay into a World War 2 Online(or Planetside) size world...imagine the long range missions you could do in such a game(like transport chopper work, you could drop off and pick up all day long). Although bear in mind there would still be options to spawn directly near action.

It's difficult to imagine transplanting CoD gameplay into a game like that, since CoD doesn't have vehicles(not REALLY).

I think TW have nailed it in that respect.

It is not that dissimilar to RO 1 but it feels much more fluid.

Iron sights now have free aim similar to Arma (but with less travel until your head moves around) and it makes for much more tactical fights - rather than relying on snap shooting.

If it is cheaper off of Direct2Drive for me, I can buy a code there then install from Steam?

right now, at least viewing from the US, steam has RO2 for $35.99 and d2d has it for 35.95. Steam is apparently giving you an additional 10% off if you own RO1...

If "Steam Cloud" is how you tell by looking at Steam itself, that confirms it.

Yup. Regardless of where you buy RO2, you'll conveniently be able to register it on your Steam account.

nice just preordered. and yes they immediately give you a code to just plug into steam. i did see a digital deluxe edition on there btw, but doesn't seem worth it for $9 more.

Oh ok see it also, I ended up picking up the Digital Deluxe and Deus Ex: Human Revolution.



EDIT: Rats. Didn't see you have to own the orginal for the rifles and the Badge's for the Digital Deluxe of Red Orchestra 2. Oh well.

Green Man Gaming is a good, reliable online store for downloadable PC games. I think it's fairly new, so not a lot of people know about it... but it's a pretty good DD from what I hear.

As for the first Red Orchestra, you should probably just skip it, since RO2 is so close to release. The first RO is quite dated by today's standards, and unfortunately there aren't a lot of people playing online right now.

Buying Deus Ex is always a good decision though. (Single-player game, so obviously the number of people online doesn't matter)

so you guys took the code and put it in steam right? that's what i did... the game doesnt even have an icon yet though.
