The beta downloaded quickly for me last night but my success ended there. I gave up after about an hour of trying to get the game working. Frequently crashed to desktop from the server menu, and when I did manage to click a server fast enough to begin establishing a connection before it crashed, it would still crash shortly afterwards while trying to get into the game.

There are a bunch of threads on the support forums from others having the same issue. I tried Tripwire's recommended fixes but no luck. Oh well, it is still in beta. I was expecting bugs but I was also hoping for at least a working product. Guess I'll be waiting on a hotfix for this issue.

This is weird, Beta doesnt show up anywhere....right click RO2 (since its on my list on Steam but no option for download beta etc)

Any links to download etc?

is it for deluxe edition only?

You have to not move/click the mouse and wait for the server list to populate. It can take a couple minutes. Wait until the list count is 170+ and the background image is scrolling smoothly.

The server browser seems fixed now, hasn't crashed on me yet there. Crashing to desktop still happens way too often for my liking, but hey it's beta. Interestingly, it seems to take the server with it, as when I go to rejoin, the server is empty. Perhaps some server issue to be worked out?

That said, so far I'm enjoying RO2. It's been years since I've played 1 (think Unreal Mod days) but it seems well thought out so far. Weapons feel good, maps are good, only played a couple so far though. Played a full 64 player match, and it hardly feels cramped, in fact I don't think I saw half the battle.

Major gripes so far? Who decided the cover button should also be your bandage button? Died many times because of that, and you can't remap it because it's a shared bind in the controls. There's also CS style mode that I don't really like. Nothing more fun than watching 3 or 4 people creeeeeeep round a map for 3 mins.....

Edit: Should probably point out the reason why the cover/bandage thing is a pain. If you need to bandage (and you have to be quick so you don't die) and you're near cover? You take cover instead, get stuck, die. Yay!

I did manage to get into some games last night after they fixed the server browser crashing. Had a fun time and I'm pleased with the game so far. There are some bugs but nothing terrible.

One thing I found funny is the voiceovers are in English by default, rather than actual German and Russian. In one case I heard a bastardized combination of German and English "Mein Gott, it's a Sniper!". That crap has to go lol.

I never pre-ordered the Deluxe edition, but today when I log onto Steam I see all of my friends playing the beta, and I begin to regret my decision... and now you can upgrade to the deluxe version if you've already purchased? Gah... so... tempted...

Game is very polished and slick. Guns are responsive and work well. Cover system is slick. Looks to be a good title, hopefully it holds a large enough MP fanbase.

Does it feel like playing RTCW ?! i Freaking love that game and as i saw a few videos , i had a feeling that i was watching RTCW with better graphics ... etc...

There's no way RO2 would be much like RTCW imo... I haven't played RO2 yet, however the RO series is going for at least partial realism, while RTCW was pretty much as arcade as it gets, based on the Quake 3 engine.

Edit: I freakin' miss the RTCW glory days.

Ye i know , but i like this kind of games , and RTCW was one of the best games in this world backthen , ET killed it..

btw , i was watching people playing the beta,

I couldnt resist any more this PERFECT GAME until 13th sept ,
Im downloading it right now !!! I want to play it !!
as i saw there is alot of people playing it like 5k or more as i saw in a video , for a beta its good ..

i HOPE this game will have ALOT of players in multiplayer and will last for a long long time !!!

Game seems really great so far. Only played about 20 minutes before I head to work, but it just feels right. So many options in the menu's and it looks really good besides. Just need to figure out the controls better, and learn the maps and I should find the game to be truly amazing.

I had a chance to play the beta for about half an hour at my friend's house. I was pretty impressed. The guns feel really nice to shoot.

I was actually at the shooting range this morning shooting my Mosin Nagant 91/30 and besides the thump on your shoulder RO2 simulates shooting one perfectly.
