The stats servers are messed up from what I can tell.

...and the sound, and the performance, and the menus, and the graphics...

There are so many bugs that no one can even agree on what is broken, its different for everyone. I just had the sound cut out in the game. Looked that up on tripwire forums and it is very common. It is also common that people are getting terrible performance even with the settings turned down, and the everything turns green at times... The sad part is it is a GREAT game that is only barely playable.

Is anyone's sound really static sounding? I'm running on my pos motherboard soundcard, but... I switched to digital out and I'm still having the issue. That... and every now and then a server will change maps and half the server loses all sound.

I've got staticy sound in game as well. It's especially apparent when indoors. It is very noticeable when you hear echo effects inside buildings.

The game is really great. They released a patch a few days ago that seemed to drastically improve performance in game. Next thing I know they released another patch and the performance was in the dumps again.

At least Tripwire is very actively working to squash the bugs in the game. Given a little more time they will turn this game into something truly amazing. Despite the bugs it's the most satisfying FPS game I've played since United Offensive.

I just wanted to say this game totally rocks, it's amazing and too addicting. They have totally nailed the 2nd world war theme/setting and in my opinion have done it better than any other developer before them. The maps are really well executed, some people have complained about the graphics being outdated, being someone that doesn't play games unless it has great graphics i was pleasantly surprised by the amount of detail that has gone into this game (playing on Ultra), i'd never heard of tripwire before but i'll definitely be looking out for anything developed by them in the future. It's the best FPS i've played period. The maps have a lot of atmosphere, reminds me a lot of the movie 'Enemy at the Gates'.

As for bugs etc, i've probably put about 20hrs into this game and it has only crashed back to the desktop once which isn't bad, apart from that i haven't noticed any bugs while playing although the game has updated itself a few times so tripwire must be working really hard behind the scenes crushing any bugs that made it after the Beta.

Also the sound is worth a mention, the music and the sound effects are all top notch, when you start a round and hear all your Russian comrades shouting as you rush towards enemy lines it's really moving or when you shoot someone and hear them screaming in agony actually makes you feel a little bad for killing them, little things like this really make the game stand out.

I was really looking forward to Battlefield 3 but honestly speaking i can see myself spending more time with this game or my time being spread out equally between the two....never thought i'd be saying that, it's quite a shock but i sincerely mean it.

the game is no doubt buggy, but its also awesome...they will iron the stuff out...if you arent willing to put up with a few problems give it a month or two, but honestly its already stable enough to enjoy

Exactly.

I haven't played that many games right at launch but the ones I did have been as buggy or more buggy than RO2. BC2 was absolutely horrible at launch.

I am having fun after getting the video settings turned down to get decent FPS.

I went from HIGH settings...to MEDIUM...and then MEDIUM with some values turned totally off and others turned to LOW.

I am not that experienced with the series but one thing that is annoying is how in the hell do you EVER get the scoped rifle.

I can understand there is only one or so for each team but it is NEVER available for selection.

Does the guy with the fastest PC get it every round? Is it based on your level? I would like to toy around with it because it is such an advantage on those slow moving maps where everyone digs in...and any movement appears to lead to your quick death.

The only complaints I have is the VOiP is totally shit...I can barely make out about every 4th word someone speaks...

Other issues I personally have had is the sound dropping out...some clipping when I get next to a wall...and getting shot across the map, through smoke and through a fence...totally unrealistic kills...

this seems to be a very polarizing game.
so far, i'm pretty disappointed because i think it performs pretty bad considering how crappy the game looks. i know you ppl say graphics isn't important here, but i disagree. it's a big part of my gaming enjoyment.

Yes, generally the first people that load into the map get the sniper slots. It is the same in RO1. On the plus side, snipers rarely dominate a match or round. Learn to use the bolt action rifles effectively, and you will kill at similar ranges with very little trouble.

If you are dying to get your hands on a sniper rifle, hang out with your teams sniper and pick his up when he gets killed, or hunt the enemy sniper and take his.

Don't rely on the "kill cam" to show you exactly where you were shot from. It seems to be buggy, and experienced players shoot and move. So what you see after you get killed is not exact.

Also keep in mind that RO2 has penetration. This means you can be shot through fences doors, and even walls. This is a pretty big leap forward for FPS games.

On the first point...I am not dying to get it...it would be nice though to change it up a little.

I am still trying to get used to the aiming with iron sites...I read about bullet drop...then I also read that bullet drop isn't really a big deal...

So if it isn't a big deal and not really a factor for most maps (since the further away people are it is near impossible to get them in sites while moving) why do they allow you to adjust the sites on the fly? Just something cool to be able to do but really pointless?

On the second point I knew that...(like that fact)...

I was trying to account for the start of a map where I was AFK for a moment...(it was the church map)...the smoke obscured the entire map ahead of me...I took about 5 steps forward trying to make it to the fence and I got smoked from somewhere by the church...not the biggest deal but I was certainly like WTF...

Like the poster above said, whoever loads the map 1st. I'm on a Crucial SSD drive, i5 @ 4.2, and once in while someone does load faster than me. :/ Oddly enough I don't choose sniper class, either Advanced Rifleman or Squad Leader are my typical choices, though I may go back to grunt with bolt action with manual bolting.

I love using this, shoot through fences, house walls, etc and randomly get a kill, though I know someone is in the area.

I have to ask...why would you want to use a bolt action vs. a semi auto rifle (squad leader)?

I probably wouldn't as a Squad Leader but while using manual bolting, which I mean as, press mouse button - shoots gun. Press mouse button gun - it bolts another round in. Currently once you shoot it autobolts for you. Which is fine for the most part but there are two reasons for me to consider manual bolting.

1) According to a user post at Tripwires RO2 forum, it's overall fast. Ok, not sure about this myself and ranks very low on my reason to go with bolt rifle.

2) Biggy here, when you shoot, you can see where your shot lands, helpful when you shooting at someone say 125 meters away. Press button to load another round and aim again with the readjustment. So 1st shot was too much leading, reduce it by a hair or more if the shot went behind him.

With autobolting, I'm not able to tell where my shot is landing due to the graphics of the bolting action being "in my way". This will help me become a better at aiming, so when I go back to semi-auto and I flank the Russians reinforcing the church, there will be less of them for the rest of my team to deal with.

I've only been playing for 45 minutes but I'm continually having trouble identifying friend vs foe targets.

A major indicator for friend vs. foe is character animation. Germans run with their weapon in one hand. While russians keep both hands on their weapon. This is historically accurate based on how each army was trained.

I was the same at the beginning....it gets way easier to identify them as you go along as the previous poster said.

How do you set it to manual bolt action vs. auto bolt action? I had no idea this was an option.

Thanks,

Lee

It's just under options in Gameplay settings, there is a checkbox for manual bolting. There's also one for auto-reloading.

Has anyone else noticed a bit of innacuracy when leaning?

I've found that If I'm hugging a wall and leaning out to make a shot. If the shot i need to make is relatively close, say, less than 30m.

When I take the shot it will be off of where my cross hair is aimed. For example - I lean right, around a corner and shoot. The shot is left of where my crosshair is aimed.

I've noticed this as well as the fact that half your characters body will hang out even though you can only see a sliver of what you are aiming at on your screen.
