The Find-a-Drug writeup on the front page needs some fixes...I'll see if I can't work on it a little better when I get home from work tonight. For now, the link names don't correspond to the locations of the links.

Sorry I'm late to the party, but I have a bunch of ideas:

- Your robots.txt file seems to be too restrictive. I use WGet to download most web pages I look at (I'm on a 10 hour dial-up internet account). But your robots.txt file blocks wget from the /images and /themes directories, so I couldn't see much but the text.

- "The SETI Team is building a Team Beowulf Cluster" - is this still current?

- I notice the TeAm rank is on the side of the page, but not in the body text.

- It would be nice to have some short table or set of icons like the Aspenleaf page has (though obviously we shouldn't steal theirs) to list OSes and dial-up friendlyness. I'm biased, but we might also want to include links to a few popular accessory programs, like proxy or caching software.

- It might be nice (or at least seem nice to me) to have some quantifiable stats/goals for each project, rather than just saying things like "We need some help" or "This is a small project so even one machine can make a huge difference". This may be overly ambitious, but here's what I'm thinking:

1. We could put some simple overtake stats on the main page. Just based on today's or yesterday's rate, not a 7-day moving average or anything. Namely, days to overtake the next team we'll overtake (if any), days to overtake the #1 team (if possible), and days until we are overtaken by the first team scheduled to overtake us (if any).

2. When these numbers don't apply, it would be nice to be able to say how many computers we need to reach a goal. Obviously, these numbers can and should be approximate in most cases.

Here are some examples, just pulled out of thin air (the stats are mostly phony):

Community TSC:
- We are currently in 14th Place.
- We need about 7 more P4 2GHz machines to stay ahead of the 16th place team, "mad 1337 hax0rz", before they pass us in 20 days.
- At our current rate, we will pass the 12th place team, "Team Picard", in about 30 days.
- We need about 127 more P4 2GHz machines to keep pace with the 1st place team, "Dutch Power Cows".

Seventeen or Bust:
- We are currently in 2nd Place.
- At our current rate, no teams are threatening to pass us.
- We need about 384 more P4 2GHz machines to keep pace with the 1st place team, "ARS Technica Team Prime Rib".

And I think I'll throw in a stats idea that's sure to be controversial. (remember, these stats aren't necessarily real):
DPAD:
- We are currently in 1st Place.
- At our current rate, no teams are threatening to pass us, and we could divert up to 42 P4 2GHz machines to other projects before the 2nd place team, "Dutch Power Cows", would match our speed.

I know this may be asking a lot, but I think it would be worthwhile.

Great thank you

Sorry this is a security measure, and its unlikely that it will be changed sorry.
- "The SETI Team is building a Team Beowulf Cluster" - is this still current?
I am not sure, I am still hoping to get a person from each project to do a new write up that has more up to date info on each project...Any volunteers?
- I notice the TeAm rank is on the side of the page, but not in the body text.
Thats because instead of It taking hours it now takes minutes to update, as the numbers are buried in a rather large text file (center) where as the one's on the side are a simple block menu and easily seen.
Sorry but I feel its better to have the info readily available rather than worry over symantics...especially when considering time savings.
- It would be nice to have some short table or set of icons like the Aspenleaf page has (though obviously we shouldn't steal theirs) to list OSes and dial-up friendliness. I'm biased,
Great Idea I'll look into it

- but we might also want to include links to a few popular accessory programs, like proxy or caching software.
Already in the works...still obtaining permission to use the files from their owners. If you are an owner of such program/accessories ,I would love to have written permission to use your files please pm me with the links and requirements and permission guidelines thank you

- It might be nice (or at least seem nice to me) to have some quantifiable stats/goals for each project, rather than just saying things like "We need some help" or "This is a small project so even one machine can make a huge difference". This may be overly ambitious, but here's what I'm thinking:
Again If a member on each team (you folks know better than I) would do a rewrite of the project you are on It would help immensely.

Its possible that I could do this.. again though it boils down to time constraints.

2. When these numbers don't apply, it would be nice to be able to say how many computers we need to reach a goal. Obviously, these numbers can and should be approximate in most cases.
Sure but that would mean I would have to actually have these type numbers and since they would only be an approximation let me give you an example:

In dpad we are 32 p-4 3 gigs ahead of the competition...So please switch some computers over to Euler,
where we are 80 p4 3 gigs computers behind,
1.how do we limit the number of folks that move over,or don't
2.if we move them over and the numbers are wrong (its an approximation) what then?
The whole idea here is that everyone can choose a project and we all work for the "TeAm"
not to mention the fact that we don't have the numbers or resources (time) to measure every computer output to any real accuracy. So while nice ideas on paper these last few would be very hard to achieve...besides the fact that when a project needs help we usually post a rally thread.

In short:The website I have made isn't meant to take anything away from these forums...Instead it was created to compliment them-consider it an plug-in to the main program. What I am trying to do Is give "all the info on the projects - at a glance" ... an easy place to gather info get help or kill time for the team ...while keeping them up to date on other projects as well.
for example say the darkness stats are down you can go to the site and choose another stats provider..
or you need an answer to a question...you have access to faqs and a live chat to help you out.
nobody in the chat ...you can kill time on the tetris game or others lol.
Obviously it won't meet everyones needs for everything but it should be a great suppliment to whats out there already...In the future there will be more added as well.
I am currently looking to get a few more admins/editors to help create the content as well as maintain it.
I am intrested in giving the team the ability to access the files to keep it updated...Ie the server is ours
for the next 2 years (unless some unforseen force acts upon it).The admins must pass on the admin baton if they choose to leave..so it will remain on the team and upgradeable by the team in the event I am not available.
