I have been using rediffmail from past 4 years. No problems yet, they have a very good spam blocker.

Google's server farm looks like norad, collectively it's about the size of a football field. "Rediffmail" doesnt sound up to the task...

sign up for one, give that email address to any website, and see if it's as good as gmail regarding spam blocking.

Agreed Rediff is not as high profiled as Google but both are being developed in the same country. Also talk about google stability. I have an account at gmail but they have troubles too. My mail is showing Server Error since this morning.
Don't get me wrong, I love google. I google everyday but rediffmail is not bad either.

Well, It works good for me. We can compare Google and Rediff once google is free to all.

Rediffmail used to be good. But later, I faced some delay in receiving messages and hence I was using it as a junk email. So lot of space for junk mails. But, their upload really sucks. Too bad. Says session expired / time out when you click send(as they upload file on click of send but not at the click of attach)

I don't know how it is now. May be they have improved atleast by some extent, as they have upgraded email box to 1Gb. However, I don't understand the reason behind every mail-servers running behind 1Gb magic size. I think only some 1000 users all together may use mail size less than 1Gb. So it really easy for one to claim 1Gb e-mail. There is no wonder if MSN comeup with minimum of 20mb / 2 Gb email account soonI hope they would increase soon else here is my - BIG BOO0ooooo.. to MSN.

I don't think any of rediff servers are based in India. I believe they have em in the america's. I think they are the number one Indian portal. The mail problem with rediff is it is slow. I doubt they have made any changes in their speed. Good deal though.

I remember reading a long time ago that they had shifted from US hosting to hosting in India as Indian Data Centres became better. Atleast some of their stuff. This led to faster speeds for Indian users. They also have tie ups to cache their website on centralized Cache servers... which again..improves access speed. Oh well...I may be wrong. too lazy to google now

Ohh... I totally forgot. Rediff had a great search. I remember using it to find some really great stuff. Found stuff that google/ yahoo didnt give me at that time... (I'm talking 1999-2001 dialup days for me)
