reducing fan noise?

is there a way to reduce the noise of my computer, specifically the fan I think it is that is making the most noise.

I need to reduce it because I got married and my wife doesn't like the noise of the computer, and she shuts it down whenever she can. (OUCH!)

The easiest and cheapest way is to slow down your fans,you can use a program like SpeedFan, which will control your fans via software.
You can also invest in something like a baybus which would help physcially control your fans.

Another way to quiet your rig is to replace your case/cpu/power supply fans with 80mm Panaflo or Papst "low-noise" fans. You can also quiet the whine from your videocard by attaching a passive heatsink or heatpipe to it.

If you have the money, replace your hard drives with quieter models like Seagate's Barracuda line of hard drives, which are almost silent.

Lastly, you can sound proof your case to help block noise and prevent vibration.

Mod your fans by putting resistors in them or do the 7 volt trick. So long as all your 80mm fans are under 1800RPM and 60MM are under 3000RPM, you computer is not much louder than a standard dell machine.

Vantec Rheobus Control each fans speed individually. Cost like 25 bucks and looks cool as well.

buy a new fan which offers decent cooling. also, i have the akasa pax mate. its a like a noise absorption mat, which seemed to lower the pitch of the sound from the fan. it helped a little. also as mentioned before, the panaflo fans are the best. get those...
