Refresh rate fix for ATI Radeon 9700!!!

Do these exist? I just got a radeon, and wanna run at good res., but my win xp is gay, and the 75hz res. annoys me. Are there averrides?!

RivaTuner. It will also allow you to softmod your card into a 9800 also.

Can i also use it to find out the mem/core settings? I just installed the catalysts from the cd (2.2 i think). Am getting 13800 in 3dmark (Dell P4 1.8 PC, not the one u see below. Below is at home, in Moscow) Is this normal? (Im, being serious. Im so nervous, cuz i only got a week in US, and if something's wrong i gotta exchange it asap) Default settings (both driver and 3dmark). Also, whassup with the jerking that i see in benchies? (THe pc has hella crap on it. Its not mine.)

Well, the opengl bugs are 60hz so when you say 75 I'm assuming that you mean your desktop. It's definitely not the radeon drivers limiting you there. I'd bet that your monitor doesn't support more than 75hz at the resolutions that you're trying. It could be the monitor's inf file too. Just uncheck "hide resolutions not supported by this monitor" and try 85 hz. If, after 10 seconds you're back to 75hz after seeing a black screen, you need a new monitor.

You're using an ANCIENT catalyst. Download 3.4 from ATI's site and that problem will be fixed. You'll also see better scores in benchmarking and faster gaming.

Dang, riva tuner is only limited to 85hz (in games. My desktop is 1024x768x16 100hz). And for some reason its still 75 hz in games! (UT2). Awkward. How do i get higher overrides from rive tuner?
Also people say that Powercolor is underclocked. Mine is 276x540 so its BS. Dang, UT2 looks awesome in 4aa and 16af... My steam-powered GTS doesnt even STAY close...but gay OG drivers are jerking. But its cool, in a week ill get back to my new pc (specs below). I only assembled it and ran benchies for1 hour. dang. Miss it.

So how do i get more than 85 in riva, and why didnt it alter actual game res? Odd.

You dont need any external program to force the refresh rate. The DX and GL refresh bug has been fixed since the 3.1 Catalyst set.

I run W2k and none of those programs are allowing me to get back into the 100hz range which My monitor did just fine with refreshlock and Ti4400. Now this 9700 seems to be limited to 85hz which would not make since.

It is disturbing that there is still confusion about this. DirectX has had an override for eons with two interfaces (Diagnostics and Properties). ATI has included another (third) interface for same since sometime in 2002. Since February it has also acted as an override for OpenGL. It is found on the Displays tab under the Monitor button.

The 60hz refresh rate problem is a Microsoft decision. Their belief is that only DirectX games should be written and working on a MS machine and DirectX games will hold to the standard refresh rates our monitors currently handle. OpenGL is there, but unsupported by MS, so we all get the default of 60hz in OpenGL games.

On another note, that Reforce has NEVER worked for any of my machines. I'm talking 2-3 different builds, 2-3 different video cards, it never has kept the settings after a reboot. Refreshlock, on the other hand, always works.

How strange, reforce always works for me and my friends.
