Last time they had these, somebody mentioned on here that you have to be careful with the refurb AIW since they rarely come with anything but the bare card. For the price, the 9700 Pro is excellent. I purchased one the last time they had them and I'm very pleased with it. It just didn't come with the molex-to-floppy type power adapter. Fortunately, I had an additional floppy power connector on my power supply (no floppy drive at all, actually).

So, I will pass along the words of wisdom I have received before and recommend that you avoid it. However, if you're feeling lucky...

Isn't the AIW version slightly underclocked compared to the non-AIW version? Slower memory or somethin?

Not with the 9700 AIW. It has the same exact memory and speed settings as the 9700 Pro. The 8500 AIW was the one with the slower memory compared to the standard version.
