(no monitor)
Celeron 400
32MB RAM
4.3GB HD
40X CD
Intel i810 integrated video
56K v.90
speakers, mouse, keyboard
3 year in home pickup warranty
Free shipping

Go to "web specials" to find the refurbs. The price is listed as $350, but when you actually order, the price is $299. The main site says a $50 rebate is included with the new units, but I am not sure if the refurbs will have them. I'll let you know when I get mine. UPDATE: Web site now lists price at $249 including the $50 mail in rebate.

Btw, MyFavoritePC is a company formed by Winbook and its parent, Micro Electronics. I found out about them from a Winbook catalog. They actually have an ok deal on the new units also (466, 8GB for $400, or or course free with an MSN sub)

UPDATE:
Thanks to markjrubin for this news:

The 3YR warranty is not valid in Floriday, therefore you get the system for $200 shipped.

----------
UPDATE # 2
THe web site has been updated. The $50 rebate is confirmed. The system is now $299-$50 mail in rebate == $249.

I got a myfavoritepc in the Spring on the etrade/free PC deal. Other than a few weeks shipping delay, it has been terrific! No problems at all.

The order page lets you select and remove the $99 warranty, leaving just $200 for the computer. The details of this are still not clear since the order page also says the warranty must be left in the cart:

<< MyFavoritePC - Refurb (3-year warranty must be listed in your cart seperately) 400MHz Celeron $500 - $100 instant rebate - $99 3-year warranty credit >>

So it may go for as low as $150 after a possible rebate?

No the $200 listed is the price INCLUDING the $50 main in rebate, from my reading. Still, $200 for a 400mhz celery isn't bad...

To purchase a Refurb MyFavoritePC, you must have a warranty in your cart for each Refurb. won't let you checkout without the warranty

The listed price was $350, which includes the $100 instant rebate. The new systems have an additional $50 mail-in rebate inside the computer box. The order sheet then lists the price at $299 (including the warranty).

I am expecting my card to be charged $299. I may or may not receive an additional $50 mail-in rebate inside the box. The order status now says it will ship within a week. So we will know soon.

No, it's not overclockable. I got the free one in March which has identical features to the $400 one described above. It will play UT just fine if you put in a PCI V3 2000 and 128 mg ram.

Joker15,

I don't think anyone knows yet if the $50 rebate applies to the refurbs. I'm waiting on mine to get here and see.

Total price including the warranty & shipping was $299. I'm hoping for the extra $50 mail-in, but I won't be too disappointed if its not there.

WHOA!!!

My brother just bought one and it only charged him 200 dollars because a 3 year waranty isn't available in his state (Florida). Now I'm definitely going to get one.

markjrubin,

WOW! That is good news. I have relatives in Florida too.
Winbook doesn't offer the warranty in Floriday either. AFAIK, Florida is the only one mentioned.

No, I haven't upgraded beyond video and ram (Actually I had a spare 533ppga lying around and I put it in). I don't see that it's worth it.
I got it before the FC-PGA Celerons came out and have since given it away so someone else will have to tell you if it can take those chips.
Better speakers would be good.
It's got 3 PCI slots, no ISA or AGP slot (the on-board video is AGP)and 2 ram slots. I was able to download the MB manual -- nothing important in there. It comes with a recovery CD, Win 98se, DX7,and the drivers for onboard sound, etc.
The Modem (AMR slot?) works.
I plugged in a USB printer; worked.
The mouse didn't work. They sent a replacement promptly. (I later took it apart and removed a flashing from one of the plastic wheels and the old one worked like new)
It has room in the case for a DVD or CD-RW drive and I don't think it would be any problem to get them running. (2 IDE connections).
The V3 2000 is pretty easy. The Bios default listed "boot to PCI video" as the default.
Change to "Standard SVGA" video, insert card, have it detected, disable "the on-board video" in "all hardware profiles" (You can't remove it and there is no jumper to physically disable it) then load drivers.
All I can think of.

OKnow I'm confused, The web special page lists 249.00 instead of the earlier 350.00. Yet the warranty is still 99.00 in the cart... Does this mean that the warranty is only 49.00??

STILL A GOOD DEAL .....

Nightmare

No it has a printer port (although I didn't use it) and a serial port although I have seen cheap machines with 4 USBs and no mouse, keyboard, paralel, serial ports or card slots of any kind (probably an i810 notebook MB). I was just emphasising the fact that the USB's worked without problem.
Even the case seemed decent.
I can't remember anything significant that this machine didn't have that I have't already memtioned.
