For the love of God, will someone please explain to me how the hell to place the frickin' thing in my cart? Their web special page just takes me in a loop. The monitors page has an "Add to Cart" button, but there's no such button available for the computer!?!?

Oh sh!t, nevermind...I finally figured out you have to click on the image labeled "Web Special". How wonderfully intuitive.

Best regards,
Floyd

I decided to make the investment and order one. I live in FL and the order checkout came out to $200. It said that was the total billed to my credit card so I'm assuming this $50 rebate, if it's valid, will be separate.

I'm still toying with a 5-year old computer, so I'm not familiar with today's RAM types. What type of RAM does this take? Also, if I add an SB Live, do I work around the onboard sound the same way as the video? Thanks.

SDRAM, PC66 minimum. Might as well buy PC100 because it's priced similarly and might be useful later in another system using a 100MHz front side bus. The system comes with 32MB of SDRAM, but 64MB is the bare minimum one should use to run Win98 acceptably. A lot of inexpensive computers are sold with 32MB, and virtually every operation hits the hard drive's swap file, bogging the system down horribly. More is better, of course, so buy as much as you can afford. Occasionally we'll have deals posted here where one can buy 128MB of PC100 for around $70 by stacking coupons and mail-in rebates (similar deals net 64MB for about $50, so 128MB is usually a much better value). Keep your eyes peeled.

Best regards,
Floyd

My roommate just got a call from this company. They were very rude to him and wouldn't say why they were calling. I'll bet it's the 100 dollar difference

They didn't say anything. They didn't want to know anything. There were vague and rude to my roommate Farbio.

Just ordered one, thanks a lot. I noticed that if you add 2 computers to your cart but only one warranty, it still goes through. If you want to split the deal with someone, this saves $25 each. I used a $20 Amazon GC I got here for free at Amazon to get a Linksys NIC for it too! Thanks A lot, once again.

Does anyone know if the motherboard supports ATA/66? If not, would the extra $21 for a Promise ATA/66 card be worth it?

yellowperil, the motherboard supports ATA/66, and comes with the special IDE cable. I replaced the 4.3GB drive with a 17.2 ATA/66 Western Digital. There is only room for one 3.5" drive (unless you remove the floppy or do something creative). If you use the i810 graphics, make sure to get the latest video drivers at the favoritepc website or you might have some problems. I added 64MB RAM, hard drive, CD-RW, and a Voodoo2 1000. Got myfavoritepc free through the e-trade deal!

Thanks for the info, ksclay. Kinda suprising there's only one 3.5" slot, from the myfavoritepc photo it looked like there was an empty one underneath the floppy (the plate where the logo is), but I guess that's where the HD goes. Darn, I was planning on adding a Zip drive...oh well.

On the site I see update drivers for the chipset, audio, modem, as well as the video. Should those be installed also? Also, do you know if you can work around the onboard sound to add an SB Live or something? Thanks

I just called them. They wanted to verify some information because I was shipping it to work not my house (billing address). They didn't catch on about the 100 off because I'm in Florida.

The $50 mail in rebate does apply for the refurbished systems. The web site has been updated to reflect this. Confirmed price is $249 (free shipping).

With the site being updated to reflect the price of $299.00-$50.00 MIR.
Does that mean that for Florida residents get the PC for $199.00-$50.00 MIR,Because The 3YR warranty is not valid in Florida? IF that's the case does the extra $99.00
(3 year warranty)Get automatically subtracted at checkout?

Thanks.

davisy2k as far as I know that is correct. When I checked out it removed the 3-yr warranty from my cart with the apology that the warranty was not valid in FL. The total came to $200, and with the rebate confirmed it should be $150.

Got my Quantum 30GB HD, waiting on my Plextor 8/4/32, and looking for a deal on some RAM. I can't wait for my next credit billing statement.

Actually this system is overclockable. The 810 board is a FIC AW33? not sure about the model number. There is a jumper that will force 100 MHz FBS provided that your ppga can run at 100 MHz at default voltage. There are no other FBS adjustments or voltage adjustments.

I got this system back in March and was able to get a cel 300a in there @450.
