Would you buy a refurbished cell phone when getting a new plan via a cell phone carrier. Sometimes you can get cooler phones for free or extremely discounted rate when they are refurbished
I use pay as you go phones, but my last 2 have been refurbs, and they work as well as new. If it weren't for "refurb" on the box, I never would have known.
Refurb typically carries a full factory warranty. The neat thing about refurb is that each one is tested after repair, unlike an assembly line where only 1 in 100,000 or whatever is tested.
I don't hesitate to buy refurb stuff. Especially things like cell phones. Having sold them for years, I can tell you that 90% of the ones that get returned have nothing wrong with them. I'll take half off to use something that someone else pretended it was broke.
I bought my sister a refurb stainless steel microwave for Christmas. Brand new they were ~$200 (decent size with the inverter), I got hers for $80. She loves the thing and is convinced that I spent way more than I did
