MoFunk, there was a HUGE thread on these boards a few week back. Apparently the Epox 8kha+ board had a few thousand that had a bad bios chip when they were first released. The retailers sent em back to Epox, had the BIOS chips replaced, and are now selling the motherboards as refurbished to still make a buck off these puppies. I ordered one before they went outta stock a few weeks back, came in retail box, screw marks on the motherboard, but besides that, everything was mint (also, the USB add-on bracket was used). Cables, manual, and CD all included.

Thanks. I may grab one of these. I have a trusty ol 8k7a right now but may drop this into my daughters rig.

I bought one of these a few weeks ago and I think I killed the bios chip by having the clear cmos jumper backwards. I didn't realize the manual was wrong until I read some Google newsgroup threads.
Anyway, I emailed Epox and they got back with me within 24 hrs and a day later they mailed me a chip. That was just the other day so I should get it soon.
In other words, tech support seems to be good unlike some of those other MB manufacturing bozos who make you go thru an obstacle course.

Refurb motherboards in general have mostly been bad news for me. Out of 4 refurb motherboards I've purchased in the last 2 months from Newegg, three of them had to go back. Sometimes I wonder if they even check these when they come in. It seems like they send it out again and if it is returned twice then it must be bad.

And if you figure in your labor to set up a new motherboard and spend hours if not days trying to tweak it because it has some flaky component then it probably isn't worth the risk.

Some of the bad boards may only show up bad until after your up and running and then you've wasted.

Anyway, these seem to be pretty good deals since these refurbs seem to have come direct from Epox and most everyone has been happy with them except for me and a few others. A very small percentage of bad ones and maybe even on par with brand new boards.

<< simonkao- how do you know how many still in stock? >>

Add to cart...then type in 99 for number wanted...click update, and it will give you the number left in stock (if only 4 are available, your number will change to 4).

I had poor experiences with Newegg refurb Mobos until buying one of these a couple of weeks ago. Board arrived with all parts, except the box and manual were for the 8K7A. Furtunately, I have another PC built with this board, so I already had the manual.

This is a great board and price, as long as you are willing to take the chance that you get one that functions and has all necessary parts. I've also gotten "refurbs" from Newegg that arrived with nothing but the board and an anti-static bag in a Fedex box and I had to diagnose that the board was hosed myself. They don't refurb them, only resell them.

Got one last month. Works like a charm. Great deal. Thinking of buying another one at that price.

Yeah, got one last month, too. Awesome! Looked brand new. Up and running without a hitch. Also picked up a refurb Iwill KK266Plus-Raid from newegg about 2 weeks before I got the EPoX, and the Iwill was A-OK, too.

Well, 87pathfinder, I got that same Iwill MB and mine had a sort of hidden problem. It set up and ran fine, so I kind of put it to the side. After the 30 days were up, I started using the board and found out the USB controller had a big problem - you could only plug in one device at a time if you wanted it to work. Had to go out and buy a PCI usb card and now it works fine (but for nearly the price of a new one).

<< Wouldnt the one above for 65 with RAID be a better deal, if you want RAID? >>

If you need RAID, then yes, but it has a different chipset. It probably is a tad slower, but that would be the price you'd pay for getting the RAID. If you want RAID, but still want this same chipset, newegg has had the Dragon+ and an Abit board with RAID, but they were closer to $100. With that said, you may be better off buying this board and getting a RAID controller, or getting the one yo are refering to if you're tight on money.

Bought one of these last time around. Board looked brand new including everything sealed in plastic bags. Everything was working fine until I pulled the board to work on some other stuff in the case. Reinstalled and no post - C1 memory code. Strange I thought since I never touched the memory. Well, about 10 hours of fiddling later I just filled out the newegg RMA request form. Must be some loose contact somewhere that seperated when I moved the board around.

I'm not saying don't buy one of these. But remember the warranty is only 30 days - I just made it under the wire.

I bought one two weeks ago and the board i got was new and v2.0...no scratches on the screw holes and the cables and USB adapter were in new sealed plastic bags. I heard some other people have gotten a board that was definatly a "refurb", so it's kinda a crap shoot.

If you're thinking about this deal...go for it! newegg shipped mine out the same day and it was at my house the next day (i'm in Southern California, newegg in the L.A. area i think)...not bad for free shipping!

In the Newegg listing, it states " Ver 1.3 ". In previous posts, there is reference to " V2.0" . Is this significant? Are the refurbs at Newegg a prior version level (ie. with bugs)? Someone please explain.

Thanks,
Mac
