Refurb Hercules 9800Pro $224 w/free shipping

I have had real good luck with refurb products from NewEgg in the past.

Strange that NewEgg would charge more for this card refurb-ed ($224) than the Sapphires new ($215). Maybe its the Guillemot/Hercules name? Or someone's not paying attention over there.
Or maybe it's just BETTER?

usually hercules stuff comes with more bells and whistles. ergo, higher retail price to begin with.
not interested? or too broke?

sweet blue color and copper RAM sinks command a premium. I have one of these and its a great card. But, it performs just the same as any other 9800 Pro.

So I have to say it is only worth it if you have a case window and want the bling bling.

They retail at other sites for $300-350. It has a great heatsink/fan combo and several reviews were able to overclock nicely. It is cool looking, but I guess being reburbed means there will not be any free games, etc.

Now that I've looked at the images up close, it IS strangely compelling. But pclark99 makes a good point, ram sinks and good looks do command a bit of a premium over a barer card (i.e. Sapphire).

if you look aroud, you will notice hercules cards sell for a more than sapphire and ATi, so its not uncommon for a refurb hercules to be a little more pricey than a new sapphire

Hercules used to be a Nvidia fighter. I know it's expensive but for a refurbished one without other goodies...

i am just noticing out of all the crabbing done in ALMOST ALL the 9800 pro threads coming up in the "search with username" field, a certain poster ain't dropped a location of where to get a hercules 9800 pro cheaper...
and that's not even getting into retailer comparisons
i'm just saying, do we chase off people posting deals (at all, regardless), or do we listen to the people who crab about their dead ones?
