Anyone have problems with flickering? Have had mine for less then a month and just recently started flickering and it wont stop...

Read my above posts... I have the same problem on arrival.
Not sure if it is the monitor or just my power source is bad.

The monitor looks great!! The picture quality is nice...etc...

However I do have a question... even at 85 hz at 1280*1024 my monitor screen shakes pretty bad, any ideas on how to fix it?

the only resoluation it doesn't shake is at 100hz @ 1024*768.

Mine shakes at all resolutions. This just started happening... was not an issue at all before. My setup has not changed at all either. Im just glad I discovered it within the 30 days of purchase.

Well I wish they'd have an option to pay for an extended warranty cause it sounds risky if you guys have already had problems just within the 30 days. Who knows what will pop up over the next year on the rest of them.

So, I'm new to this system and although I have scored on some of the smaller deals (CDR's) and the like this is my first hardware purchase. I got the monitor last week and it is AMAZING for under 200. Very bright, crisp.

Thanks Homer and thans AnandTech for keeping up this forum.

Got my Airborne tracking number yesterday morning, but after 24 hours there's no info as to where it is. Shipped from Marshall Mn. At 61 pounds I don't expect these things to be treated fondly by the freight handlers at UPS, Airborne, or UPS. Might even get the occasional kick. The later posts on problems have me worried that these last few may be the dogs of the bunch, 'specially since Homer Jay seemed to take time with early orders to personally see that good ones were sent. Has anyone else noticed that HJS hasn't posted to this thread for nearly 2 weeks? I suppose we'll get the answer soon.

SkepticalOne, your name seems to be a fitting one in this case

- Airborne should be getting the latest info updated today, keep checking their website, everything sold should be on its way out to customers now.

- As to the "problems" in later posts, these have been damaged during shipping (you bet, at 61 pounds these are not a favorite item) however, anyone that has gotten a bad one has had it replaced promptly, at NO cost to them, and if you compare the number of people that have good monitors to those that had problems you will see that only 1 or 2 per approx. every 30 monitors shipped has any damage.

- The "dogs" of the bunch? from what we gather from our supplier these are off-lease monitors. Meaning that as different companies' leases end over the span of months new monitors become available to us, its not like when I first posted this deal there were 1000 monitors all sitting there and we are just getting to the end of them now... Each batch of monitors represents a new end-of-lease batch, with similar quality to any before it...

Just consider this a confidence booster from me to you, things are still going smoothly just like when I first posted this deal...

~~Homer

(I don't mean to jump all over you skepticalone, I too have been skeptical of hot deals I have bought in the past so I understand! Although I should point out that it hasn't been "two weeks". My last edit to the main topic was on the 19th of April.

Homer: When you pick out a monitor to ship, is it a random process? Or do you send the ones that look best first? That way, in case you don't sell out that model, at least the customers who did receive it is more likely to be satisfied.

It's OK if you cannot divulge this information--I understand

Homer, thanks for popping in to reply. I got a little antsy and well...skeptical after reading some of the late comers posts about flickering and such. I've been disappointed once before on a refurb large monitor deal. Not so badly I'm not willing to try it again. When I looked back I didn't see a post by you here since the 9th and I bought mine Sat. the 19th. I wasn't attempting to impugn your honor, or that of your company, but more looking at my cup as half full. Thanks for showing up to reassure me you're still out there.
Looking forward to replacing this ol' 19" with that 21.

Hi there, long time lurker, I had an account a few years ago but I lost the password to it. I haven't really felt compelled to post again until now.

I got the 21" Grade A today, ordered on 4/18, and let me just say that THIS MONITOR IS FREAKIN' HUGE! It's quite an experience to watch DVDs now and be able to see pixels because I'm running at 1600x1200x75. Combined with my new Logitech Z-680's, watching LotR EE DVD is quite a rush.

The monitor is somewhat dimmer compared to my old 17" monitor, a Dell OEM Sony Trinitron. I've got it cranked up to 100/100 brightness/contrast and it's still not as bright as my old 17", however, as expected the colors are better, Invar shadow mask has always had better color saturation than Trinitron tubes in general and this one is no exception. I noticed a very slight green cast in darker parts of the movies, and I will investigate this slight aberration further. I simply increased the brightness in WinDVD a little bit to compensate for the dimness, and I'm going to see if I can adjust the color settings to fix the green cast. The monitor isn't anywhere near being flat, but it's only slightly more curved than my old 17" and the difference isn't distracting at all. The focus and convergence in the corners is quite good, and the edge-to-edge brightness is very consistent.

For $197 (I'm in California and got nailed with the sales tax), this monitor is an absolute steal. Thanks HomerJaySimpson!!

For those of you with nvidia drivers have you tried going into the advanced driver settings and to the "color correction" tab for your video card? You can further adjust the brightness/contrast. It's default at the midway point. With it I can make everything very bright. Does that help at all?

I have adjusted the settings in the color correction to reduce the amount of green, however, those settings only seem to apply to regular Windows and not to Direct3D/OpenGL or overlays used to watch video. There is a noticeable green cast, especially when compared side-by-side to my old 17" monitor, using Nvidia Nview and video mirroring I can see the exact same thing on both monitors and on the big monitor everything that's supposed to be brown in movies instead looks slightly green. Ugh. For $200, I shouldn't complain, but I do watch lots of movies on my computer and if the movies look wrong this deal won't be nearly as hot as I thought it was.

HomerJaySimpson, what's the return policy on these monitors? Unfortunately, I might have to send it back if I can't fix this green cast problem. I will of course pay for shipping to send it back.

Dual monitors can be used on a dual monitor video cards like the new Ti 42-4600 lines and even the ATI 9700. Your other option is if you have 2 ghetto old pci video cards like from vodoo or somthing. I have mine setup with my Ti 4600 and all the stuff I needed to run it came with the drivers for the card. After installation, your system should auto recognize the new monitor. But I cant help you unless I know your hardware. If you go the pci route I wont be able to help much. Good luck with it though.

The monitor deal looks pretty good, I wanted an a grade one though.

just an update. I got my replacement monitor on Monday and this time I went ahead and plugged it in downstairs to make sure it at least powered up before I lugged it up stairs to my office. This thing is awesome so far. It is HUGE and everything looks great.

Thanks for the great deal

Well, mine got here bright and early this morning. The packaging was more then adequate, and Airborne took good care of it. There wasn't even a dent or scratch in the extremely heavy duty shipping carton. Cudos on the shipping.
The monitor could easily pass for brand new. Not one disfigurement to it. I'm using it on a KVM switch and the machines have a GeForce2 Ti200 64DDR and a Radeon 9000 Pro 128DDR respectively and this thing looks fantastic on both at 1280X1024 85 Htz. Very bright and the controls allow a great deal of flexibility to the set up. The one DVD movie I tested on it looked terrific.
Gotta hand it to you Homer, you did great. I couldn't be more pleased. This SkepticalOne is a lot less skeptical this morning. Thanks.

Wohoooo!
I got mine today and let me say the only way anyone could tell it isnt new is from the long crack on the back (which I highly suspect was from shipping, because the little pieces that are broken are falling inside it so it was done very recently I think). Also the back is a little yellow which can hardly be noticed. Anyway the screen doesn't have a single scratch which is far more important than cracks in my mind.
Ok so far so good... I turned it on and walla it's working awesomely.

Those who think this monitor isn't bright: I am running 50 percent brightness and its allot brighter than my 15 inch. The reason why your's isn't bright might be because of the color Select. Press the button labeled (by the way the labels on mine are perfect) v moire and choose color select 1.
This will remove the greenness of your image and also enhance the brightness.

All in all I think this was a great deal. Thanks homer.

2- CS looks awesome on this thing running at 1600x1200, the only problem is the font is so small! wohooo for a great monitor.
