Check your settings?

You should also check your VGA cable. If one of the pins is bent, that could cause the green color

Mine arrived about two days ago. It was packaged extremely well. I got the Grade B but it sure looks like a Grade A to me. It's performing flawlessly right now.
Unfortunately the computer I put it on (one of six now running in the house) decided to take a powder. Fortunately it was only the power supply. In the process of fixing things I took the chance to totally reload Windows. This thing is as big as the TV in my bedroom. I'm very pleased.

OK, a post 36 hours later. I'm using this now since my aged eyes were having trouble reading the smallish text on my old Sam's club CTX PL9 19" monitor. The brightness and extra screen real estate make an astounding difference. This particular monitor was very highly rated circa 1998/99 and I haven't seen great strides other than flatter screens since that period. This one is really cool. It takes up about the same desktop space (maybe even less) then my old 19" and it looks a LOT better. DVD movies are like HD TV and text is so readable it's a pleasure. The screen is a lot flatter then anything other then pure/flat I've seen thereafter.
I'm using it both as a personal machine monitor and as I set up a test bed for a back office server. For the business side my eyes don't ache after hours of looking at it trying different configurations and settings. This is welcome relief. The old CTX looked OK, but this is infinitely better. The screen is noticably flatter (although not flat, very close) colors are vibrant compared to the CTX of the same era. I have a huge desk so space isn't the problem for a CRT that it would be for some, but I seriously doubt (and see in the offices I work on) that many LCDs look anywhere near as good, or deliver the image quality this big mutha does.
Jay, I owe you a good night out on the town if you ever get to Georgia. This (if it has any life left in it at all) was truly a hot deal for me.
Thanks man.

Compared to hitachi superscan 811 which is 185 shipped, isnt the nokia 445x pro better? Look at this link...

http://www.merkortech.com/details.asp?iid=337

I know it is out of stock, but I am still debating weather this is that good of a deal that I should jump on, or I should wait for somthing like the nokia 445x pro. Thanks for your input..

I received mine this weekend. I am very impressed with the quality of the monitor.
It is comparable in picture to my NEC 1100 21" monitor. I gamed most of the weekend on it and everything looked great!!!

Thanks HomerJ for the initial post,
Stau

Update for those curious,

Been using mine for about 2 weeks, and have gotten used to the hugeness of the monitor as well (it doesn't look as impressive now ). I'm afraid that I may have to use this as a standard when I purchase future monitors, because the small ones just won't cut it anymore. Anyway, my current condition of the monitor is stable. The drivers detected by windows 2000 and XP Pro have this monitor running on CM813 drivers. Picture quality and crispness of the monitor remains steady. However, I'd like to mention that I am noticing some curved lines eminating from the sides of the monitor when displaying images in dark environments. They look like curved stripes pointing towards the center, and no matter what settings I tried I couldn't eliminate them completely. The closest solution that I currently have is to lower the brightness which seems to only make these annoying lines less visible to the naked eye. The problem with lowering brightness is that it sacrifices the overall image quality to make these stripes less visible. My current screen settings are @ 1280x1024 85hz, 90/90 -- contrast/brightness. Anyone else notice this when viewing scenes from movies in dark environments, or in games? Any solutions? The monitor is still very good despite this minor annoyance.

I know exactly what you are talking about
it is the Moire effect...

however, you couldn't get rid of it with this monitor's moire settings :*(

I have the exactly same problem

ALOT of curvey lines... you can see it especially well if you load up Warcraft 3 (notice the load up screens.. you will see it)

Hey yall,
I know whatcha talkin bouf.
I had the exact same problem and whatcha gots to do is change the color format. It's the button with the three little dots forming a triangle. Press it and change the color size to 10,000 or 9,800 something like that.
This will eliminate those lines completely!!!!
I am a beast. This will fix your porblem. Tell me what goes.
Holla.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. I think I fixed the problem. I believe it was the moire settings
that fixed this, but I could've sworn I've tried them before and it didn't work. However, after
another try, I saw that these lines were completely gone. What I did was this:

I switched the H.moire from Off to On, then adjusted it's bar setting to about 35.
I left the V.moire off so that the little moire symbol at the bottom only showed ((( )))H.

The thing is, I believe that each application you run (games) may have different
resolutions so the screen has to be adjusted again. You probably have to adjust it
once when you are running the application because the settings change. So if you adjust
it while in windows, your screen settings will not apply to other applications that runs
on different settings. Indications of this are shown when I load up a game such as
Counter-Strike or a DVD movie and then check my moire settings, and often, when the resolution
changes, the moire settings are back to the default setting of off again. At first I wondered
what the hell was going on, but after switching the H.moire setting back on again, the streaks
were gone!! At last, I can enjoy a flawless display! Hope this works for you guys!

Just wanted to say THANK YOU!! To HomerJay - the monitor is great, particularly for the price shipped. The only thing grade B about the monitor is a few sticky note residue spots. I can definitely buy a bottle of Goo Gone with the money I saved!

This was a great deal and if anyone's hesitating still I'd recommend grabbing one since the Grade B monitors say they're in stock. I've been way less happy with brand new monitors I spent much more for.

By the way, if anyone's insane enough to want to, I'd be THRILLED to give up my 15" LCD Dell monitor in trade for one of these.

If anyone is wondering who ordered the last B in stock, you can yell at me. I just ordered 3 monitors.

I hope my order goes as well as all the rest of you. I'll report back.

I just received mine today. Nice packaging, the monitor was clean enough for me.

Right now I'm battling to get a clear picture. I've tried a couple of settings but I keep getting faint horizontal lines going across my solid blue background. Sometimes I get curved lines extending out from each corner.

Homer, do you know why this would happen? It seems to me like others are having a clearer picture than me. I will reply back when I get it working, or not.

Trying ajusting the moire settings Schoolies. Press and hold down the 6th button from the left and then press on either H.Moire or V.Moire and play around with it. Hope that helps.

Several people have posted on the forum about either brightness/color problems or lines in the screen...

Many of the other users here have done a pretty good job of answering how to clear those issues up. (thanks Skinnysloth, Zhou, Amirtallica and others for the helpful hints, I think some of you guys know more about these monitors than I do )
But I did want to clearly spell out, in one post some of the things that can help.

Brightness:
It appears that for the majority of these monitors the brightness and contrast needs to be almost all the way up, however from what we hear that was probably true even when the monitors were new, so other than the unsettling feeling of knowing that you can't go any higher, it shouldn't cause any continuing problems.
--To correct this:
1. Raise the contrast and brightness settings (but I think most of you managed to figure that out on your own)
2. Make sure the "color select" is set to No. 1 : 9300K (press the button with 3 little dots on it 5th from the left)
3. Raise the individual Red, Green and Blue settings higher. max them all out at 255 (press and hold the brightness/contrast button 6th from the left, while holding that down, press any of the 1st three buttons from the left [they normally control vert and horz adjustments and pincushion, but they also have R, G, and B above them])

Color:
This has not been a major problem, but just in case...
--To correct this:
1. As noted above, there are separate settings for Red, Green and Blue, and you can make pretty big adjustments if needed (press and hold the brightness/contrast button 6th from the left, while holding that down, press any of the 1st three buttons from the left [they normally control vert and horz adjustments and pincushion, but they also have R, G, and B above them])

Thin lines barely noticeable on the screen (ie. Moire)
Certain backgrounds and resolutions seem to aggravate this more than others.
--To correct this:
1. There is Horizontal Moire correction and Vertical Moire correction on this monitor, it is another secondary function like the R,G,B. (press and hold the brightness/contrast button 6th from the left, while holding that down, press the 4th or 5th button from the left [they normally control right pincushion and color select, but they also have H.Moire and V.Moire functions]) turn these on and adjust the amounts if needed
2. Also make sure there are no magnetic or electronic devices near by that might be causing interference. Speakers and telephones are common culprits, but there can be many causes.

Other secondary features include language select (I personally feel more refined when I adjust my monitor settings in Italian) which can be accessed by simultaneously pressing the 2nd and 3rd buttons from the left (v. position and pin cushion) and a recall feature that resets some of the settings back to default which can be accessed by simultaneously pressing the brightness plus button (with a square around the +) and the contrast minus button.

We try to get most of these settings right before we ship them out, but obviously most of you guys and gals are going to want to tinker around and get the monitor "just right"

Hope this information helps!

Thanks everyone. I got my monitor on Monday and was very happy until I noticed a burnt in sport or ghost where a login screen for windows NT or XP was probably located. I emailed the folks at the website and they sent a new one that day! Wow, that is service.

While playing around with the monitor I have I did find that besides the ghost in on spot, the left side had a green hue to it.

I hope that no one else had these problems with their monitors.
