Several people have posted on the forum about either brightness/color problems or lines in the screen...
Many of the other users here have done a pretty good job of answering how to clear those issues up. (thanks Skinnysloth, Zhou, Amirtallica and others for the helpful hints, I think some of you guys know more about these monitors than I do )
But I did want to clearly spell out, in one post some of the things that can help.
Brightness:
It appears that for the majority of these monitors the brightness and contrast needs to be almost all the way up, however from what we hear that was probably true even when the monitors were new, so other than the unsettling feeling of knowing that you can't go any higher, it shouldn't cause any continuing problems.
--To correct this:
1. Raise the contrast and brightness settings (but I think most of you managed to figure that out on your own)
2. Make sure the "color select" is set to No. 1 : 9300K (press the button with 3 little dots on it 5th from the left)
3. Raise the individual Red, Green and Blue settings higher. max them all out at 255 (press and hold the brightness/contrast button 6th from the left, while holding that down, press any of the 1st three buttons from the left [they normally control vert and horz adjustments and pincushion, but they also have R, G, and B above them])
Color:
This has not been a major problem, but just in case...
--To correct this:
1. As noted above, there are separate settings for Red, Green and Blue, and you can make pretty big adjustments if needed (press and hold the brightness/contrast button 6th from the left, while holding that down, press any of the 1st three buttons from the left [they normally control vert and horz adjustments and pincushion, but they also have R, G, and B above them])
Thin lines barely noticeable on the screen (ie. Moire)
Certain backgrounds and resolutions seem to aggravate this more than others.
--To correct this:
1. There is Horizontal Moire correction and Vertical Moire correction on this monitor, it is another secondary function like the R,G,B. (press and hold the brightness/contrast button 6th from the left, while holding that down, press the 4th or 5th button from the left [they normally control right pincushion and color select, but they also have H.Moire and V.Moire functions]) turn these on and adjust the amounts if needed
2. Also make sure there are no magnetic or electronic devices near by that might be causing interference. Speakers and telephones are common culprits, but there can be many causes.
Other secondary features include language select (I personally feel more refined when I adjust my monitor settings in Italian) which can be accessed by simultaneously pressing the 2nd and 3rd buttons from the left (v. position and pin cushion) and a recall feature that resets some of the settings back to default which can be accessed by simultaneously pressing the brightness plus button (with a square around the +) and the contrast minus button.
We try to get most of these settings right before we ship them out, but obviously most of you guys and gals are going to want to tinker around and get the monitor "just right"
Hope this information helps!
