Has anyone ever found a manual for this monitor, online or otherwise? I know there are a lot of suggestions in this thread about tweaking the picture, but it is always nice to have a manual. Hitachi's website does not have one available.

Received my Grade A on Thursday of last week and used it throughout this past weekend. Gotta say I am very pleased with the monitor. It looks great both exterior case and picture quality. The packaging was sufficient to keep this beast from suffering any damage in transit. Thanks AllThingsTech for a great deal on an outstanding 21" monitor, I will recommend you to anyone I come across looking for a monitor upgrade.

Good question. If you find one, will you post a link here or tell us where to get it?

Also, without having to read again through all 9 pages of this thread again.. Anyone care to put together a small "tweak" guide for these things?

Thanks in advance

I don't know if this deal is that hot or not...

Its basically a good refurbished place....

I recently bought a refurbished 22" NEC 1250+ Flatscreen CRT from poweron.com (the have a store on pricegrabber, www.poweron.com, and ebay auctions, though they seem to be restocking now) for 210 Shipped, got to me in perfect condition

www.accurateit.com is another good one.

Scibbi, I checked both places . Whatever good prices they show
dont stand up after shipping charges are added. The one you say you got for $210
showed $62 ground shipping for me (NY) so its $261 total. Maybe they raised prices, I dont know.
The other site shipping ranged from $52 to $99. Nothing too hot either.

Those places could be nice and all but allthingstech deal still beats them.

Website currently shows that the Grade A's are back in stock. Currently they have 8 available. I can't wait to get mine. I've been on back order for over a month.

I got my grade B last week. It's very nice. I can find no reason for it to not be an "A". No scratches or picture problems, it's no more yellowed than my year old 19" (which I'm dual-heading). They look nice beside each other, and it's nice to use the 19" for tv or pdf/html file display while typing up reports or case studies. A manual would be nice, but I figured everything out in a few minutes. I don't know what the specs are, but mine does 75hz at 1600x1200 which is fine for me. It's not a perfectly flat screen, but it's reasonably close.

Well I read all the comments on this thread and decided to order a "Grade A".
A 17" monitor had no picture (power came on) after new carpet was installed in one office (dropped ?). The 21" will replace the 17".
We have also been using for some time an ADI 6P and a Samsung SyncMaster 900P. Our computers are on 24/7 and these older monitors have been excellent.
I hope Homer will pick out a good Hitachi 811.
When I started thinking about purchasing one there were 8 left, I bought #7, at present there are 6 "Grade A" monitors left. Also 12 "Grade B"monitors left.
Thanks to all who have made inputs to this thread!

FootCavalry,
All tubes should be shipped face down, as it is the heaviest part, and that will prevent box from rolling around.

You can pick up a cable at most office supply stores like Staples, OfficeDepot, etc, or Radio Shack, and it should cost you less than $10. As you said, should have been included though, and I'm sure they will send you one. Perhaps their attitude on the phone may have changed when you incorrectly told them they shipped monitor inappropriately (tube down as it should be)?

Dalbani has the 6ft MM SVGA cable for $1.11

Well aside from the monitor rush that they are trying to deal with I tried to order some networking equipment and they have hardly anything in stock. Do you guys just order equipment when someone orders from you? They had a great price on a 19" rack but didn't have it in stock.

Just wanted to update the deal that skibbi was talking about some while back:
www.poweron.com has those NEC FE-1250 Monitors back in stock. Their price is 149.99 before shipping. I can't find an exact shipping rate (it looks like one of those sites where you have to get pretty far along in the checkout process before you know for sure) but according to skibbi and others that have posted it looks to be between $40-$60 dollars. If that is the case the price would be getting pretty decent for a flat CRT.

I can't speak for the quality or even be sure that the shipping is still that price (since I don't want to enter in all of my info to find out) but it looks like it might be a pretty good deal.

poweron.com the monitor is one of the specials listed on their main page now

:Q I just checked out this site and the shipping is OUTRAGOUS ! They want around $73.00 to ship and I only live about 50 miles away! They don't seem to have an additional charge @ / for will call. So, I'll probably just go up there sometime this week. BTW They are the NEC 22" FE1250 Monitors (near flat screen?). $149.99 plus 7.25% tax comes to around $162.00 give or take a Quarter.... With shipping it came to around $234.00.
Here's their # 1.800.673.6227. Oh & when you hit the link that HOMER provided, You'll get a OPPS! message, Just click the " Keep Shopping " and it will take you to their site. So unless you can pick this up.... I'd say HOT!!!! If not.
It's not HOT!!!!

Redrain,

I guess when they lowered the price on the monitor they must have upped the price on the shipping to compensate.

However, there are still some customers who are willing to pay over $200 to get a flat CRT. (skibbi bought 2 of them at $210 a piece) so maybe some customers will still think this is a hot deal.

Wow, I forgot about this thread..I bought two of these monitors (grade a) since I have a Hitachi SuperScan 813(from teamexcess) and love it. I am really happy with the quality of these monitors, pretty much the same thing as my 813..I couldn't imagine using anything else.

I'm actually thinking of ordering another one for dual 21" monitors on my desk..hmm

Homer I guess you're right. My bad! Based on the NEC 19" New (first page HD 11/17/03) FP912SB for $283.84 or Dell DP930SB for $266.36 (see Nec 19 " thread ). Or the Refurbed ViewSonic 21" for $200.00. The $234.00 maybe a hot deal for some afterall.... I think Marauder has some good points though about not buying new.... When it comes to CRT's. So, do you buy new for $30.00 to $50.00 more and sacrafice the 2" or stay with used @ 21' or 22" for $200 to $235? Soooo many decisions????
