Eh. I could tell you some fish stories if you like. This doesn't sound like one yet. A lot of places warehouse stuff at other locations than the main business. Especially space consuming items.

Its only been one business day since we ordered. Would be nice if Homer would pop in though.

According to the lady I spoke with, the moniters were coming from their supplier, not one of their own warehouses. So to me it sounds like they expected a delivery on Monday and decided to go ahead and list the expected items as in stock. It would not have mattered if the truck had actually made it, but it did not, hence the delay.

I am not too worried yet, just hoping things shape up in the next day or so.

So another way to put it is:

Line up the buyers before you get the product.
Then, with money in hand, you get the best deal on the bulk purchase.
Can't we all do things that way?

My status now says: UPS shipping UPS 3/7

I assume this means it will ship friday. Who knows though.

They don't charge you until shipping.

There is nothing wrong with pre-selling expected stock. Dell built its success on that.

Unless the stock has been supposedly eyeballed by the poser. You can't see what isn't there.

I'm new here..but I got the email belowl from Scott Moat, prez of allthingstech. This isn't going quite as smooth as I'd hoped, but since I'm in no rush I don't mind. Just so long as the monitor is in good shape...
------------------------------------------

<my name>,

Hello, my name is Scott Moat. I am the President of Allthingstech.com. I would like to thank you for your recent purchase from our website. I am writing this e-mail to apologize for the delay in the shipment of your monitor. At Allthingstech.com we pride ourselves not only on our low prices, but also on our prompt customer service. Normally orders placed on our website ship in less than one business day. However, these refurbished monitors are a relatively new addition and unfortunately they are not yet shipping as smoothly. We have been selling these monitors on our website for a little more than a month. Up until recently we had been selling an average of a few monitors per day. Due to a posting on a couple of internet forums our orders increased dramatically. Unfortunately, at the same time we had some new issues arise in the supply of these monitors.

I can assure you that as I write this letter these problems have been cleared up and your monitor is packed and awaiting pick-up to ship out to you on Monday. However, this delay is way out of the norm for our website and we want to do more than just say "we're sorry" to apologize for the delay. Because of the delay, I would like to offer you free shipping on your monitor. When your credit card is charged for this purchase we will deduct the $4.99 shipping charges. I realize that this is not a substantial price reduction, but I hope that an extra five bucks will help to soften the blow of having to wait a little too long for your monitor. Once I again I would like to say a heartfelt thank you for choosing Allthingstech.com. I realize that making a purchase from a relatively unknown website can be daunting, and I appreciate your confidence in our business.

If you have any questions or concerns you can feel free to contact us at (507) 929-3650 or e-mail sales@allthingstech.com .

Thanks,

Scott Moat

President

I received the same e-mail from Scott Moat. I ain't in no hurry either. And 5 bucks off is 5 bucks off. Free shipping is good, especially on a 21" monitor.

I for one will say that these guys are bending over backwards for customer service. I'm impressed.

CheapTOFU, if you're still monitoring this thread (no pun intended), where in VA is this microcenter you speak of? The teasing is killing me...

Mine just arrived, it's a huge box and the package is a bit, umm... interesting. Several types/styles of bubblewrap around the monitor, various pieces of dense styrofoam thrown in around the edges and peanuts tossed in for good measure. The cables were loose at the bottom of the box and I had to carefully remove some styrofoam bits from the ends of the VGA connectors.

The monitor looks clean, no signs of any shipping damage. Letting the temp normalize for a while, will power it up later and report back in an hour or so.

Micro Center lists their locations on their web site so for Virginia, it seems to be in Fairfax.

I've run a variety of tests on the monitor at different resolutions and refresh rates, and can't find anything to complain about. There is just the slightest bit of impurity, noticeable on solid color tests, but nothing objectionable. The controls are a bit non-intuitive, especially the secondary controls for MOIRE, but once I figured them out it was easy to eliminate the slight moire pattern by adjusting the H. MOIRE. It's beautiful, sharp and bright with good focus and convergence and has been rock solid at 1280 x 1024 @ 85hz for several hours now.

This unit could probably pass as new, I'm extremely pleased. Thanks for the heads-up on this deal Homer, hope everyone else getting one of these is as happy as I am.

hmm on my hitachi CM802, the red is set higher than the blue by default, so everything looks kinda brownish...

if you turn the blue up, the colors look MUCH better.. just a tip..

yeah i didn't notice the moire and color adjustments until 1 year i had my monitor, the monitor never came with a manual.

Well I am glad to hear that the monitors appear to function well once they arrive. However I am starting to get pissy because my monitor that was ordered a week and a half ago has not shipped yet.

It seems the series of problems at Allthingstech.com has continued into this week. You may recall that they initially could not ship because their "instock" items were not actually in stock, and the delivery truck broke down. Today, after unsuccesfully trying to track my Airborne number, I called Allthingstech and find out that the monitors have still not shippped. According to Julie (who is quite nice) the Airborne Express truck did not show up yesterday for the pickup.

So here I am a week and a half, nearly 7 bussiness days, later and my supposedly "in stock" monitor had not even left the retailer. Not a good first impression.

Oh, and I never even got the email offering to take $5 off, yay me.
