Wooo! After some deliberation, I just placed an order. My current monitor and previous one were both refurbs from TeamExcess so refurbished monitors have treated me well

Bit the bullet and ordered one...
We'll see how it goes... Never had a refurbished monitor before but the reviews on here seem pretty good...

slight flickering on the right side of the screen.

I've seen this caused by magnetic or electrical interference. Make sure there is no other monitors, speakers, fans, etc. right next to your monitor."

No... I checked already... no other electrical equipment nearby other than the computer.
One of the possible causes could be solder joints going bad =\

well I ordered on Friday 4/11 and it arrived today via Airborne. I'll do my best to remember to post after I've unpacked it after I get home and set it up. I'm excited and hope that my first deal works out!

Ordered two Grade A's on Sunday(one to go along with my 813 from TeamExcess, another for someone else), both shipped today. I am dissapointed that they charge sales tax in California, and do not even ship from California..I would of been ok with it if it DID ship from California, but they still ship from their "headquarters" in Minnesota. That's $28 extra that I feel should be refunded. Now i'll have to wait until the end of the week to receive them and see if I am satisfied..I have high expectations because my Hitachi SuperScan 813 is a Grade A and it is perfect. I hope I won't be even more dissapointed when they arrive.

well I got home and unpacked the monitor and set it up on my desk. Unfortunately it didn't power on. I sent them an email with the customer service that everyone before has raved about I'm optimistic that I'll have a working monitor sooner rather than later.

I'll let you guys know what happens.

Its not uncommon for an online store located outside of CA to charge tax for sales made inside CA. Many stores charge that even if they don't ship from CA.

This thread is getting silly...

Can anyone really argue that this is not (if it wasnt to begin with) a promotion for Homer's employer? We've been getting updates for almost two months, and Homer apparently told his boss about this thread. If his boss doesn't see this as a valuable ad, he's an idiot, and I'm sure it isn't lost on him that Homer is promoting the business.

The relationship is just way too close between vendor and poster.

I believe the moderator's note in the original post speaks for itself. If the moderator doesn't have a problem with this particular case, why should we? It seems like most people are genuinely getting a deal from this.

Quick, rewrite the rules. If people get a genuine deal, then its ok for vendors to advertise here. If you're an employee of a company and you think your company is running a great deal on something, and you post it here, at the very least, don't tell your employer about it.

You a Russian or something. Sheesh, let it go. Or start your own forum. If you don't wanna read and think about what you read and maybe learn then go back to your little red book of economics and start your own forum.

Just got mine today and it looks almost new. Well, newer than the 17" monitor it replaced. It works fine and I'm still trying to get used to the size of this thing! I feel like I have to move my entire head instead of just my eyes to view everything on the screen (maybe I have to sit back a bit more). Also, this thing is heavy. I was afraid it might break my glass desk top, but my desk seems to be able to manage...for now anyways. I am very happy with this monitor.

Well I heard back from customer service. They are sending out a new monitor when they get their next shipment in.

I look forward to getting a working monitor as I was truly sad when I had it all set up and it didn't power on. I could tell that it was going to be so much better than my previous 15" monitor.

So at this point I would give their customer service a thumbs up for being responsive and helpful but I'll reserve final judgement till I have a monitor that works.

Lack of integrity would constitute Homer or the company for which he happens to work knowingly selling defective or "less than perfect" merchandise in an attempt to dupe the end user, or not standing behind the product sold. I believe any and everyone who has followed the life of this thread can safely see that is not the case.

AllthingsTech.com obviously has a very good deal available in these monitors. From the posted experiences of the AnandTech users that have indeed ordered, it sounds as though their customer service is phenomenal and the products themselves on par with the description listed on the website. Homer and his company have been honest, complete, and very thorough - and when problems have been encountered, they have gone truly above what a reasonable person might expect often at their loss. These actions by very definition are signs of a company with much integrity.

We should all be so fortunate to deal with such companies.

Without getting further into it, I'll simply say that you have not read my first post on this subject. If you had, you would know that the integrity I am referring to is the separation of dealer and hot-deal-poster. Are you implying that Newegg, a company with which many have had consistent positive buying experiences, should be allowed to post "hot deals" here?

I said I wouldn't post again on this subject, but I at least will not let my posts be misrepresented. If anyone wants to discuss this further, PM or email me so others dont have to see it.

As I believe this is a healthy, and rather beneficial discussion for all who read/post here, I respectively decline the offer to not publically share any thoughts or opinions I (or anyone else for that matter) may have.

Obviously nearly everyone that stumbles their way into this forum (yes, even an actuary) has the ability to read eight posts above the most current one. So, no - there was no misinterpretation whatsoever, I can safely assure you.

The points I made were in full light of the fact that the original poster of this thread is indeed closely connected with the company selling the product discussed in said thread. Would it be immoral if I happened to be a Best Buy stockholder, and I thought a deal offered by "my" company was worthy enough enough to post here? Of course it would not. In the same manner, nor would it be immoral if an owner/worker/shareholder/cleaning person from NewEgg.com did the same if the deal has merit.

That is, and very much should be, the distinction.

Free advertising of a "normal" sale price which anyone can find nearly anywhere obviously is far different. I believe anyone of reasonable intelligence can see or know the difference in magnitude. This deal applies, I believe (most especially considering the shipping charges being so low). Nor should one be permitted to simply post "a deal" for their employer without first disclosing the fact they are connected in some fashion with that employer. Genuine, and honest postings about deals, regardless from whom, should be welcomed.

Homer is to be commended for that, as the Moderator pointed out in his message. If anything, that should be the final word on this matter as they are the governing body for this venue. I believe if you see fault with the decision, a PM or email to them might be in order instead, rather than to myself or another member.

Very well. If you can read my posts, perhaps you can also cite the relevant forum rule here and explain how an owner/worker at NewEgg.com could post a NewEgg.com "hot deal" without violating the rule. Again I have to think that you haven't done your reading.

Update: I was wrong, you are just unwilling to read. Here it is anyways. Edited it in this post to stop bumping your ridiculous chain of obtuse responses. Sorry to everyone who doesn't care.

No links to deals, promotions or offers by your own business or your employer. This is the "No Dealers" rule. We do not intend our forums as a free sales floor for your business. If you want to promote your company on AnandTech, contact our sales department about buying a banner ad.

As an aside, its hilarious to read your recent change of heart on the worthiness of this topic. Your last post read, "As I believe this is a healthy, and rather beneficial discussion for all who read/post here, I respectively decline the offer to not publically share any thoughts or opinions I (or anyone else for that matter) may have."

"Moderator Note:

Thank you for your post. As a member for almost two years, you have never posted a link to this company, before, and your link contains no referral code. We believe that you are simply posting a good deal from a company you happen to work for. Therefore, we will leave this thread unlocked unless others spoil it by thread crapping.

AnandTech Moderator
"

Seems fairly straightforward. In perusing the rules, I do find the following :

"What about COURTESY?
No thread crapping. If the subject matter of a deal does not interest you, do not post negative comments about it, or about other members, in the thread."

This is beginning to become far too off-topic. Looking forward to more stock coming in. I have directed several friends/colleagues onto this deal, and all have come away very satisfied.

Keep up the excellent work, Homer and AllThingsTech.com. Your diligence is appreciated.

My "A Grade" monitor arrived yesterday. It was very well packed (no peanuts) and seems to be running quite well. It was rained on for hours but the packing kept the monitor dry and in full working order. Thanks HomerJay!

To anyone grumbling about the manner in which HomerJay posted this: Either order a monitor and find out what a great deal this is or return the one you have purchased so someone else can take advantage of this deal.

I have spoken.
