It's not your fault that Overstock is a bunch of boneheads. Everyone that I know of expects "refurbished" to mean that the unit is as good as new but not new (i.e. open box, warranty repair). Minor cosmetic blemishes are expected. A broken/malfunctioning unit is not!!

For any that are returning theirs (is anyone actually keeping theirs?), Overstock is stating there will be no restocking fee and that they will email you a printable UPS label.

Overstock.com has the "Refurbished" 3650's back in stock. I'm going to give it another try even though I fully expect the battery to be bad again. If they want to keep paying for shipping back and forth, I'll let them. Wish me luck!

funny, i'm in the process of returning 2 and they said they cant ship me replacements cuz they're out of stock. i have a feeling their rma department just plugs it in to see if it works and then ship it and hope whoever gets it doesnt return it. i dont think they have the time to test if an ipaq holds a charge for long amounts of time, one i got could hold for 5 minutes, the other for under 10 minutes, but not good enuff. better not hit me with a restocking fee,

it'd be like: "we received your items back and they tested working, here is your 15% restocking fee"

then i'd say "@!#$ you, dat shizz aint refurbished, it got ppl's data on it, want me to to call 'em up and tell em overstock.com has their pDA"

seriously, isnt overstock violatiing someone's privacy? there was like a dozen contacts in one and 50 in the other.

For around $220 (after rebate, coupon, tax) you can get an Audiovox Maestro from Staples. It's got twice the ROM as the ipaq and a screen that's almost as good, plus CF and SD slots built right in. I love mine .

BIG WARNING THOUGH: Many people who bought this got a defective unit (battery wouldn't hold a charge). If you are planning to invest in an extended PGP battery (2100 mAH) irregardless, then this is a very good deal; the modification work, including the new battery would run you about $150, but it's worth it, as it will make your PDA run more than 110% longer than with the original battery (yes, more than double the battery life, giving you a solid 6 hour+ of PDA browsing, much more for mp3 playback with the screen turned off - still doesn't beat the Sony Clie 710/760 though ).

Well... I don't know what to think of this deal. I picked up a second unit after the return dealio..... Received a credit promply followed by shipment from essex and not overstock. Shipment had a letter from compaq stating battery had been replaced and unit check out. Good for 90 days. So..... I guess I a somwhat happier camper. I just haven't figured out why as of yet. "I think it is the factory serviced part."
