So THAT's where all the dead Gainward cards ended up at!
Seriously. A few (6?) months back, people were testing entire crates of Gainward cards and finding that only 2 worked. I'd stay away from these.
EDIT: OTOH, they have a Parhelia for only $369! Mmm, Parhelia...

So you feel that it is necessary to thread crap because other people, besides yourself, are sharing deals on a deal sharing web site. I am sure that some appreciate a heads up when Newegg re-ups on the refurbs. I know that I have appreciated it in the past when others have informed me. I was simply trying to return the favor.

YES, because by the time you finish posting it, the deal is nearly dead anyway. Most of Newegg refurbs have only ONE unit, so you will not be sharing the deal with other people.
You got a BBA Radeon 9600 pro refurb for yourself, and that was probably the only ONE BBA Radeon 9600 pro refurb they had there. And no one else will be sharing the deal of getting a BBA Radeon 9600 pro refurb for $133.50.
The fans were working fine on both the cards I got...but the first looked obviously overclocked. First, it smelled, and second the ram chips looked like they had overheated. Dunno if you've ever seen what I'm talking about, but it's pretty obvious if you know what you're looking for. Even if they were *currently* overheating, I wouldn't expect them to artifact immediately like they did...Originally posted by: woodscomp
Most video cards I get returned are because of poor cooling on the GPU. Usually the cooling fan dies and so does the card. I know that on all of my Gainward purchases this was the case. I have since stopped using Gainward or Asus for that matter because of the cheap fans.
I would say if your card is artifacting it might very well be from a poor cooling device. I know that you probably don't want to spend the cash on an additional piece for the card but that could be a cause.
Advice, I would not hesitate trying any of the made by ATI cards, Palit/Daytona line, and Jaton are usually pretty good about making a stable card. Sapphire is the OEM label for ATI, they are usually pretty good as well.

Name calling really is not needed
I for one appreciate the Newegg refurbed posts, has anyone thought that maybe AT is not the only place posting this info? And maybe enough people have taken advantage of the refurbs that they are skulking waiting for them to pop as well? And maybe AT may just be one of the groups that does not actually sell out the refurb Newegg section everyday?
So if you are out there informing your group that you like so well, I don't see anything wrong with that, except for maybe the fact that one person with a negative attitude because they can't get there quick enough is pissed! I'd say join the grumpy old men forum because this whole forum is about Hot Deals, and we all should be coming here to share them.
Have a Nice Day!
Newegg refunded the shipping YOU paid to ship stuff back?Originally posted by: Buckett
I too have had a bad refurb experience, but as stated Newegg took care of me by refunding the price and shipping. Granted, these refurbs can be a crap shoot, but Newegg seems to do a great job of making things right if they go wrong.
Neutralizer - If your looking for the Sapphire... AS fxsts alluded to, you can find them on PriceWatch, new, for like $149 shipped. This is still a good deal, if you ask me.

If the consensus were that this kind of Newegg refurb in stock notification type post is helpful for many (and it seems that's the case), I must have been behaving too much of an asshole posting what I posted. I apologize.
