I've been running one of those beasts for several years now... I guess it would be about 5 years. And it was coming off a 3-year lease at the time, so I'd say the monitor is at least 8-10 years old. First thing to note is that the thing is incredibly bulky and heavy. It's not a bad monitor though... but at this point I'd recommend spending a bit more and getting a decent LCD. They were way too expensive back then, so the 21" CRT seemed like a pretty wise investment at the time. And I've gotten an awful lot of use out of it.

I ran two 21 trinitrons in a dual setup for 5+ years. Amazing displays ..... however, both of them eventually had geometry issues and bit the dust. In any case, this is a decent price on a big sharp display. Shipping is a little high (although these do weigh 85lbs+).

I'm happy with my 2405FPW though Haven't looked back since ....

not to knock shadowmasks or anything, but this is not a trinitron. not apples to apples comparison here, i would personally spend a bit more for a trinitron.

Don't even bother with it. I'm sure they will let you buy it for that price. OMG, I went to that store yesterday and let me just say they have the biggest selection of crap I have every seen in my life. There are some good items like cabling and small items. But man oh man so much crap. There were some good deals like that Logitech Cordless Action Controller for $13.

Yeah, I know the store, been there myself, but they have this odd dichotomy between the online store and the B&M store. The prices will be the same at the two stores, but they come from completely different stock somehow. Same quality, but when the B&M runs out they won't sell any from the online stock. Sometimes they don't even have it at one store, but they do at the other. It's very weird.

And yeah, a lot of crap nobody really wants. Weird Stuff is a much better store in that regard, because even though nobody could conceivably want some of the stuff the price reflects that fact. I can't fault Surplus Computers that much though; I purchased my truly awesome and useful 10.5" card-powered TFT from them, and I'm still using it. If only it worked on non-proprietary cards....

ya, i'd have to agree for the most part, especially since that was nokia's lower-end model. Trinitron had some competition with certain hitachi and nec/mitsubishi tubes though.

The nokia 445Xpro model is based off a high end hitachi tube and i love mine infinitely more than the dozens of trinitrons i've come across. Got it fresh off-lease for a song (a few years back).

yeah I did click on the second one. I am not saying you posted a lukewarm deal; rather, I was saying the model you suggested is better than the cheaper one the other guy suggested.

If mine breaks down anytime soon i'll probably get a sony cpd520 aka dell p1130 aka hp1130

Anybody get in on that gateway deal a few months ago? It was for a 21" diamondtron crt for $200 NEW. Not the "best" tube in that model but how can you beat $200 for a new 21" crt that'll last upwards of 8 to 10 years ?
