Stay away!!!! i bought one and it didnt even come with a damn power cord. Its pretty much useless. I called and they said they were gonna send me a generic power cord. We'll see if they work. Good luck

Refurb AIW cards only come bare. That's why it's useless to buy one. Without the accessories it's just a regular card.

well they have an adapter that plugs into the card that allows your input/output for analog signals....which is probably what everyone is complaining about....you can pick them up on ebay for probably 20-30....plus the remote wonder is another 30....so you could almost buy one new-in-box from ebay for around 300....with all of the accesories....

No. As an owner of an AIW 9800 Pro, I can tell ya what's important is the remote wonder, the input breakout box, the cable to connect from your card to your audio card, the HDTV converter, the component output cable, and the installation cd so you can upgrade the dvd player codec (because you can't upgrade the great ATI DVD player without the cd).

These refurb deals on AIW's are a total waste.

Well gee wiz, did anybody notice that the power connector is the same as that of a floppy drive. did it ever occur to you Einsteins that maybe the floppy connector from the PS would plug directly into the card ?

If you are upgrading from an older AIW and already have the accessories then this is a great deal. Newegg clearly states that refurbs are bare card ONLY. You get exactly what you order.

No. I didn't realize that. So, we can just plug the floppy connector from the power supply straight into the card? Even if you have the connector, this would be a tidier solution especially if you don't use a floppy drive anyway.

Yes, you can just install any power connector. The power "cable" that comes with it is just a standard splitter.

I got one of these when they had them a couple weeks ago. I knew it wouldn't come with any cables either, but I was just about to spend $230 on a new non-AIW, so I figured for $10, why not have the other features available?

I don't use any of it now, but I can just buy the breakout box for $40 or whatever if I ever want to do video capture on it.

By the way, you can connect the audio from the AIW to the sound card internally too, so you don't really need the external cable...

I got the card for 240 from newegg and got the input breakout box for another 10 from ebay. already had the dvi to vga adapter, and i have no need for the output stuff or the remote. so all together i think it's a pretty good deal for 250 for an awesome card + the occasional TV watching.

That's if you don't care to run dual monitors. With the 9800PRO you can run a VGA and DVI at the same time or two VGA's. With the AIW, you need an elaborate splitter that cost about $50 to run dual monitors and it's not guaranteed to work.

Just some food for thought.
