Just received my 7800GTX KO from the first sell off. Item was in a plain white box, with standard EVGA plastic packaging, and the accessories were all new and sealed (PCIE-Moles, Svideo, 2*15pin to DVI, SvVideo in/out and HDTV Dongle). The heasink has a big white labeled title "recertified" but the heatsinksink itself looks brand new with no scratches or dust bunnies.

Due to the overwhelming demand of this program, we have oversold this
item. We do apologize for this unanticipated development. We will
issue full credit for the price of the unavailable product. Please
allow 7-10 business days for this to show up on your credit card
statement.

To show our appreciation for your business, EVGA will credit your
EVGA login account with 50 EVGA Bucks which you can use to purchase
future EVGA products from our shopping cart.
http://www.evga.com/products/ In addition, EVGA will be sending you
(via USPS) a free game to the address you have registered with us.

I am seriously pissed as I called (see my prior post) them within the hour to confirm this order went through and THEY CONFIRMED IT WOULD BE SHIPPED! I then passed on the remaining deals and others around the Net. I shot him an email explaining my anger and angst!!!

I too am now the proud owner of 50 worthless EVGA bucks. Such a deal, a 7600GT on their website is only $110.00 more than what I can get it for elsewhere after rebate.

What a grand gesture. To show how sincerely sorry we are, we are giving you the opportunity to pay us 1.5 times the street price for our product...

Honestly, I appreciate the sentiment, but its like giving your six year old a torque wrench for his/her birthday.

Better to just cancel the order.

Well I got the same email of apology in which I was told that I would be refunded the purchase amount, BUT, I actually received my order yesterday!! These people are generous. Alas I sent them an email notifying them of the mistake, we'll see if that happens, but at least I won't feel guilty for being paid to take their products.

I too received a canceled order notification. I am somewhat insulted in the giving of evga bucks since as was listed before their prices on the website are list and far above what retail is all items. I asked their customer support manager to come here and explain to us at AT what their solution to this will be since clearly the canceling of the orders and giving us monopoly money is not what we ordered and reminded them that this promotion was a goodwill event to give us long time EVGA customers something back for the years of purchasing their products.

I have purchased over 3k in items from them in the last 4 years and will never again buy something from them till they fix this problem. If I had made a regular purchase I would not be so upset, but I was "lucky" enough to actually get in on that 7800GTX low low price and to have them cancel and say they oversold after having the SKU listed for another 2 days in the regular b-stock list is clearly BS.

As Mike Ditka used to say.....

Sorry about all your cancellations though. Everyone probably told the guy who was calling everyone up they got a KO... those probably went quick. Glad I just said regular GTX.

Scheduled delivery is 7/23 though... and it reached a location about 40 miles away from me two days ago. What's up with that!?!

it stinks that they oversold items, but it seems like they are handling it okay. look at it this way, they are refunding the purchase plus giving out evga dollars. it also sounds like the refunds are going fairly quickly. being hot deal users, its not like this is the first time the forum users have lead to a company overselling a product. stupid on evga's part for not managing stock better, but hopefully they learn from the issue.

[rant] Seems you're lucky if you got one. I got the same dear John letter... Here's $50 worthless bucks. To make matters worse, I logged into my account to see if I could find any deals, and the $50 EVGA bucks weren't even there. [/rant]

P.S. 7600GTX, non KO

Actually, as someone already mentioned, I actually didn't think I was going to get one as this wouldn't be the first time that I bought something and they oversold or mispriced. I learned along time ago that it's not a hot deal until it hits my doorstep
Sorry for those of you that were let down. Honestly they are not setup with real time inventory and possibly should have avoided the attempt. Instead they should have used a retailer that could better handle it (ie newegg), but then it would cost more as well.
At least they are refunding promptly, giving you 50*Ebucks (debatable as to value), and shipping you a free game (I wonder what it is). As long as you get your refund I would chalk it up as a missed deal but you got something for free. I consider that a hot deal if they stand by that promise.
Just keep in mind the more vocal you are about these promotions (ie demanding), the less they are inclined to have these in the future.
Also punishing the willing is not a good system either. Ie so now people are more inclined to purchase XFX since the EVGA attempt at a promotion didn't go as planned? So to gain customers they should never attempt anything as I understand.
Either case I understand the frustration as I have been on the side of many hot deals gone bad.

I don't understand why some would be upset at the cancellation.

At best, you would have received a $100 refurbished card, with a 90 day warranty, for $60.

If you were lucky enough to be canceled, and can wait a short time, they should again be stocked up on the refurbished items.

You end up with at worst a $100 card for $50, plus a free game of some sort.
Better yet, if it takes a month to replenish the refurbish stock, price might drop to $90 - $50 = $40 in the end.

This $50 offer + game is more than fair for a substitute to the original $40 off deal.

If the 50 dollars could be used on a card that actually sold for retail instead of list I would be fine with what they did, but as was listed before a 7600gt costs over 150 bucks. So basically we got nothing but aggravation.

Except that some of us actually ORDERED the KO and got cancelled. I'm a little upset about that. Especially because I know they could have done a better job on it. This goes beyond the basic "server being hammered" write-off. I placed 2 orders. One during peak "crazy deal" period. And one during just normal. Both got cancelled and they didn't have the items on either. They clearly had their website set up poorly.

Further evidence to this point is that if you go to their main store it doesn't even render right (non-bstock) for the item lists under mozilla. Under internet explorer, half their site doesn't even work right. They need to fire their web team and get some people up there who at least have half a clue what they're doing.

I put up a post about my canceled order on their main forum wich always gets a response from the mods and CSR's so if anyone would like to get a response from them add to my post on ther general forum so they can see how we really fell about this.

Agreed on that their web site was poorly done and (hopefully) by now they realize that and will take MAJOR strides starting Monday to correct and prevent.

Second, good thought about posting on the forum!

Finally, I took it a little too personal as I had called within an hour of placing the order and had correspondence (internal) between their tech support person and their top CS people) confirming that my order was going to be fulfilled - all this over a 30 minute long-distance call. Afterwards, I passed on a couple of other cards including (I believe) one more chance at the GTX KO card at their sale and for several as good a cards on the Net but that cost more - yet, I would have expected them to have been delivered.

I will wait a short while before final judgement, but as I told their Tech support person last night, I thought it was a chick$&!# way to cancel orders AFTER they closed for the weekend. And if I was someone in Tech or anywhere else in the company I would be sorely upset with the staff that: a) Setup the sale, and; b) Decided how to handle the cancellations.

Thanks. I just had to add my two-cents as I hate it when bad things happen to what I am assuming is a good company. In addition, I hate seeing the attacks like some had posted on there. Immature to say the least.

I am not always right but I try to do the best I can.

And, when there are deals out there you can bet the farm I am all for them!!!

Now if I could just make sure all my answers were correct in their scavenger hunt...at least I found all the 10 gold seals!

I am stunned!

I just received a call from Joe Darwin at eVGA and he was apologetic and we had a pleasant conversation - something you do not see or read about nowadays!!!

He said for me to feel free to post his email address for those who have an issue so you can address it directly with him: jdarwin@evga.com

I have to admit, he impressed me and I had to share what I feel is a positive experience that youy just seldom see or hear about.

All well and good, but words are cheap.

Did he offer you any actual compensation beyond the throwaway evga-bucks?
