Will the REAL Viewsonic 445PRO please stand up ?

Hopefully, we'll know by Mon or Tues. which one it is, if anyone near the buy.com wherehouse ordered one.

I live on east coast so I'll have to wait at least a week I'm sure. Bummer if its the crap one. I should have got the 19" KDS Trinitron from Mercata for about $300. At least that was a for sure deal. Oh, well.

buy.com's current status of the Viewsonic: SOLD OUT
For their sake and our's, I hope there's not gonna be alot of disappointed people.

Just an observation, it's true that the model number listed on buy.com site for the monitor is for the 445Xi, but I just wonder how they can defend against claiming on the product highlights that is on the same page stating:

Dot Pitch: 0.24mm Aperture Grille
Maximum Resolution: 1800 x 1440

From the specs sheet of the 445Xi, that monitor does not seem capable of resolution above 1600x1280. So for the people who got in on the deal, if they were to get a 445Xi, they should be able to return the monitor on the basis of false/typographical information on the product page.

I think even if there isn't any typo, buy.com still allow you to return a clearance product you purchased w/o any penalty within 14 days of the shipping date. So in a way, it's a no lose situation for people who got in, imho

yes, the 445Xi is supposed to be crap... and this is definitely the 445Xi. I did a search on Google for "445P259" (the model number from the buy.com description) and came up with this product description page. According to the bottom of that page, the model number "445P259" is the 445Xi. The page also says that this monitor has .22dpi and supports 1600x1200 @ 80Hz which is pretty good, however reviews of the 445Xi have been bad.

Of course their gonna let your return it if it's the wrong one, people don't look at model numbers when they buy something they look at specs. That's not the point though, if they don't send the pro out i'm gonna rip some heads.

guys, refurb might work for a litto while but both of my roomates bought 2 21" refurb monitor before and it worked perfectly for 3 months then just went crazy. I know it's a good deal, but why not start a POWERBUY from Mercata, I still got my full $100 discount and the SamSung/KDS 19" doesn't look bad at all......personally I like Iiyama..but we'll see......BECAREFUL if you want to buy anything refurbished, think about it.....have fun

When I took a look at viewsonic.com, there are six different monitors that are nokia brand.
445PRO is one of them and i don't see 445xi from there(even the pic of the monitor is same as 445PRO).
Buy.com mentioned it as Viewsonic 21" Monitor, not nokia.
445xi can be fouond only at nokia's site; therefore, i think it is 445PRO.
If it appears to be 445xi or other model, i'll have to return it.

Nice link UNKNOWNDUDE

IF they are not 445PRO's, at least egghead.com got the right specs matched up to the model #.

Does buy.com have any "sorry for your troubles" reimbursments?
IF they goofed this up, they should hook us up with a fat discount on a real aperture grill monitor for wasting our time.

I bet at least half of those sold came linked from here. Man, they're gonna be hating it.I bet shipping on this is almost $50 each way. Theyre eatin $100 for each one returned. PLUS alot of very unsatisfied customers.

Another observation:

It just occur to me that Buy.com advertised on the info page as a VIEWSONIC 21inch. Now, if they do indeed ship the Nokia 445XI, unless they take the effort to change the shipping box logo as well as the logo on the monitor, the back panel, and anywhere that has a hint of "nokia" on it, they would already be nailed for false advertising for sending you the WRONG brand of monitor.

Also notice on the egghead link it is clearly stated that it is a NOKIA monitor.

It does seem like it's going to be the 445xi, but they really have no ground to stand on in terms of refusing a flat out return! Wrong specs, wrong brand...

Seems like some employee on buy.com should be fired for messing up like this

Actually buying refurb monitors are not that bad. I had an Mitsbishi 19" refurb monitor from ubid, and it works fine for almost one year now. So I think it just depends how lucky you are ....... Sometimes new monitors die very quick too.

Another Obversation:

How about everyone receives their order and contacts the lawyers who won the case {$550,000] against Buy Comp for the Hitachi mess---this is considered false advertising[bait and switch] for the consumers and Buy Comp doesn't have a Legal leg to stand on ! I don't think Buy Comp would want to go through this fiasco again and in order to satisfy everyone, would want to make some kind of adjustment to each who purchased this monitor.

Just my opinion!

Just my 2 cents:

Let's not kick a good retailer when they're down!

They are already looking at spending a ton of money just on shipping and returning if we have to send the monitors back. I would guess that about 75% of the folks will send the crappy monitor back which would be a three to six thousand dollar loss for buy.com.

Who will take the place of buy.com when we run them out of business!

If this deal falls through, we need a powerbuy through mercata on the iiyama 510pro 22" giant. This monitor kicks ass. Assuming they sold it for $999.99, the final price after first time user and MS discount works out to ~$650!

Who decides what mercata sells?

Just wondering, can someone on the forum who knows the details of the buy.com Hitachi lawsuit enlighten us on the details of the lawsuit? I just wonder how comparable the details are on this case?

What are the plans on Monday when the warehouse opens? Are we allow to stop the process when it's on "sent to warehouse"? Or are we only allowed to return them once they have "shipped". Better yet, should we all hold off on cancelling and do this "lawsuit" together?

BTW, is buy.com warehouse open on PST or EST, and presumably 9am?

Gretz99,
This is how I plan to proceed with this: let Buy Comp ship me the monitor and if it turns out to be the 4450Xi and not the the 445Pro, then I plan on holding onto the monitor and 1st: contacting the President of Buy Comp and see how he wants to proceed---part of the settlement of the Hitachi fiasco was that this type of secenaro was not supposed to happen again and that Buy Comp was to put in place safeguards---this would be a flagrant disregard of that agreement---advertising one monitor and delivering a lessor quality one in it's place[bait and switch policy]--this is more serious than previous as this has not only civil ramifications but criminal also against Buy Comp executives.
If I am not satisified with Buy Comp's response that I plan on contacting the lawyers who handled the Hitachi case and see what options, if any, are available to us.

Yes, I have purchased other products from Buy Comp and have been happy with the results but I am tired of internet firms not taking responsibilty for their actions, abusing the consumer, and thinking that it's alright to continue business as usual---the line has to be set somewhere.
This may all be a mute point if the proper monitor is delivered so let's just wait and see.

Just my opinion.

You are a moron. We are not some cheap bastard that is trying to take advantage of the situation and order 5. What I ordered was a Viewsonic 1800x1600 capable monitor and if they ship me a handicap Nokia mon that only support 1600 at most. Buy.com should be held responsible. This is not about kicking somebody when they are down. I pay my money and I want what they advertised not what they didn't advertise.
