Refurbished Viewsonic 21" Monitor AG for $349 from buy.com ( be careful what model it is)

I can't believe it! It says 35LB for my 21" monitor!!!!

I have had UPS list incorrect shipping weights before but not by that big a margin.
I checked the old crappy monitor specs and it is showing 32kg which is about 70lbs. It's possible someone saw 32kg and thought it meant the lbs.

Anyway, don't be surprised if it's just a UPS shipping weight error. I don't have much hope that we will get the good monitor.

It's very rare that UPS makes such a large shipping weight error as they calulate their prices on the size and weight of boxes sent--to many negative variables so far--does not bode well for us---
again we'll just have to wait and see as I'll know tommorrow and will advise all!

35lbs is in the 17" or less range. I can't imagine them screwing up that bad as to send a 17" monitor, but then again!

If you take a look at Viewsonic's page the 445Pro also has a weight of 70lbs. so dont get discouraged yet!!! I'm waiting to see what happens. keep me posted here!

Anyways, like everyone else, my two monitors said they shipped today from TN. Looks like I'll find out next week if they are the correct ones, as I am currently outta town.

Wow! My monitor is supposed to be here today however I'm supposed to load up the family and go to Florida to see relatives (and maybe do some protesting!)

I had rather simply refuse them rather than go thru hassle of waiting for another pickup.

If anyone gets their monitor please post quickly the results.

21" LCD....now that would be a merry christmas! A 15" LCD would work too!

I've been told that UPS uses Weight classes with some of their shippers. So, if something is between 35lb-80lb, it would be labeled as 35lb, because there is no difference. Mine is scheduled to be delivered today and should have it in a couple of hours.

Delray: I'm assuming you got your already? Is this correct? Also what is the best way to return there? To refuse shipment, or get an RMA from buy.com? How does refusing shippments work? Do I need to be there when the UPS guy comes? Do I just say "I refuse this shipment?

Called buy.com ... they gave me an RMA.
Stoppin by UPS on my way to work.

On a good note:
I also got my Leadtek GTS 2 card form www.neutronet.com.

My UPS guy let me open the package and when I saw it was a 445Xi, I retaped it and told him I refuse the package and send it back and he was kind enough to do so---for all you others, now that we know it's the cheaper model, I would just refuse the order as this is a whole lot easier than reshipping it, it's also easier to get credit back to your card from Buy Comp---just my opinion!

Gotta say thanks to sciensdiet for finding those specs on the monitor way back at the beginning of this thread. Saved me from wasting my money on this deal. Sorry for all you folks that have to go through the hassle of sending it back. I wonder when Buy.com is gonna correct the specs listed on their site?

I read it somewhere that you can disbute this with the credit card company.. is this correct?? if so how would i go for this route? and i also heard it that usually it's credit card company that eats the loss.. is this correct? cuz i don't want buy . com to go south... since i still have some of their stock and not to mention i buy a lot of stuff from them

Goodness, you should have seen the packaging job, the monitor was about to fall out. Well, I got the Viewsonic. (Just kidding) I also go the Nokia piece of junk. I went ahead and helped the UPS man pack it up and denied the pkg. I was going to keep it and dispute with Buy.com, buy if they would have sent an RMA# ... there is NO WAY the UPS guy would have picked it up in the condition it was delivered. I just don't need the headache!

LOL.. yeah, mine looked pretty shabby when it arrived, too.
They almost didnt take it at the UPS counter, untill I told them I just got it
delivered to my house about an hour ago.

I called buy.com and they are going to give me back my old coupon ($15 off $150) and also credit me $20.00 towards my next purchase. Not too bad, I guess. I really wanted that monitor though!!!

BTW, just in case any of you think about it. I called and made my way up the chain of supervisors. I was trying to get them to send a comparible item, namely another Viewsonic 21". Over an hour later, they agreed to offer the above mentioned ($20), but not the monitor. I made it very clear that I was unhappy and well, I'm on my way out of town and have already been held back long enough today. I may call and fight when I get back, but it appears that short of legal action (which I do not want), I'll have to accept the $20.
