Sorry, in my excitement I missed the fact it's 1080p in the description and the link to the deal hehe

Hmm, upon reading a bit more about the model, it may not be as hot as I thought. It's a LVM-37W1, which apparently only has a 12ms response time...

Link to site that's actually selling it (ecost).

3 left. Not a bad deal if you can deal with 2 dvi but no hdmi, slower response time.

Still 3 left. I wonder if there is always 3 left until they sell out the allocation.

I have a 22" monitor and its excellent. 3rd gen Westinhouse is good. Previous not so good.

However I will warn that E-cost is selling this. Good luck if there is a problem. Reseller rating is very poor.

Do not count on both DVI ports working, most reports from owners are that the second DVI port somehow shares the HDMI port's interface and doesn't work at all. That's why the new LVM-37W1SE only has 1 DVI and 1 HDMI port.

I have the SE version (8ms, 1200:1 contrast) and love it, however I bought mine from Costco's website and wouldn't have bought it online where I'd have to ship it to return it. This deal makes me a little nervous, even though it is a good price.

I have this set and I think it's absolutely great. I bought it about a year ago for freakin $1,500 with a 4 yr. BB warranty and it's still running strong.

I use it as my main PC monitor @ 1080p and I use a PC TV tuner to watch TV on it. The only thing that I don't like is that it ghosts on Source powered games (Half-Life 2, etc.) and FEAR. It's tolerable when there's action going on, but it is noticable. Don't ask me why it doesn't do it on other games. It looks great with 1080i HD TV feeds and in Windows in regular 2D.

If I didn't have one already or had space for another in my apartment, I'd get it.

Good luck!

On the fence on this one. I had a pricepoint for a 1080p LCD at $800 delivered. The recent Costco deal for the Westy 37" was about $960 delivered after shipping, tax, and non-member surcharge.

How bad is eCost, really? The resellerratings comments are atrocious, but I see that Buy.com has almost as bad an overall rating -- 2.5 -- and I think they are one of the best online vendors. I've ordered a couple of times from eCost previously, without incident -- but it was new, not refurbished, merchandise.

Even if I get a defective set, it is still a decent (not great) deal if I have to ship it back to Westinghouse at my cost.

Shipped cost on this deal, minus fatca$h, is about $650.

Quantity left was 5 earlier today. I think they will keep it in single digits regardless of the true quantity, to "incentivize" customers.

is that really a good deal for a refurbished?! there were 37" OLEVIAs with HDMI, VGA, 1080i, PiP, QAM, etc, etc for $700 during the Black Friday of 2006. given that Black Friday is not too far away, you will likely be able to get a similar (and more important, brand-new) 37" TV for $500-$550.

I think you are remembering a set with a native resolution of 1368 X 768. This particular set has a native resolution of 1920 X 1080. It is the lowest price by $200+ that I have seen for a true 1080p monitor.

If it was new, or if it was a better vendor, I would definitely buy right now.

That said, I expect that 42" 1080p LCD's will hit $800 by Christmas time.

yep! that's the one i meant. it downscales the higher resolution signals. 1920x1080 sounds nice! but as far as i know, there's no 1080p broadcast in the US yet....and there might never be. :-(

Oddly enough, I've also heard people tell me not to buy silver flat panel TVs, they said the silver color reflects light at night and distracts their viewing.

I'm probably another year out from biting on an LCD....just waiting on quality to stablize some more and the prices to drop another hundred, at least. Good post though. Anything less than $600 in an LCD is a pretty good deal....
