Ten-year-old Kennedy Corpus has a rock-solid excuse for missing the last day of school: a personal note to her teacher from President Barack Obama.

Her father, John Corpus of Green Bay, stood to ask Obama about health care during the president?s town hall-style meeting at Southwest High School on Thursday. He told Obama that his daughter was missing school to attend the event and that he hoped she didn?t get in trouble.

?Do you need me to write a note?? Obama asked. On a piece of paper, he wrote: ?To Kennedy?s teacher: Please excuse Kennedy?s absence. She?s with me. Barack Obama.? He stepped off the stage to hand-deliver the note ? to Kennedy?s surprise.

?I thought he was joking until he started walking down,? Kennedy said after the event, showing off the note in front of a bank of television cameras. ?It was like the best thing ever.?

The fourth-grader at Aldo Leopold elementary in Green Bay already knew what she was going to do with the note: frame it along with her ticket to the event. She said she?d make a copy for her teacher.

Kennedy said she had never seen Obama before. ?He?s really nice,? she said.

Interesting.

When I'm president I will never look anybody in the eye because I won't have the interest/attention for them. Wouldn't that be awesome, being president and NEVER looking people in the eye, not even the camera when talking because you don't feel the need to?

EDIT: Also, I'd throw temper tantrums all the time and scream.

I appreciate that Obama is working his ass off for us and cares about all americans. It certainly beats having a lazy POS silver spoon in mouth douchebag republican who only caters to the well heeled and delegates all his work to everyone else.

WIll he be around in 40 years to write my grandchildren notes? They will miss school because they will have to start working when they are 8 in order to pay for all of this spending his administration is doing?

This is common of most politicians, good and bad.

Huey Long once wrote a note for a homeless man to take to a shoe store. The note asked that the manager furnish the man with a pair of shoes, and send the bill to Long's office.

Many reporters who interviewed Bush said he had an easy charm to him.

We can't afford to look at them from a personal level. One of the thing that makes these men powerful is that they are charismatic on that level, and others.

I agree with you. Sometimes though, it's good to remove the political shit and just see them as a person. Doesn't mean I now like or agree with him more/less than I did before, but just that on a personable level he's kind of a cool guy.

Ya, so he's a good guy. Doesn't change the fact that he is wasting billions of our tax dollars on bailouts, pork barrel spending projects, and even dare I say a trip to NYC.

You don't need a note from Obama, you need one from Bush about why the economy was crashed to require the massive spending to keep it from crashing more.

Bush had the charm of the sociopath. You can afford to notice the charm, just don't let it change your view of their policies.

have to agree here. Obama's a piece of garbage politically, but he is definitely a swell guy personally. Unfortunately being a great guy to hang around with doesn't translate to being a great president. Didn't we learn this during the past 8 years?

Whut choo talkin bout willis?? Kids don't learn anything on the last day of school, they just have parties and clean out their desks. This was a far greater learning experience for that young girl.

You should be thrilled that her father decided to give her a real-life civics lesson instead of yet another day being indoctrinated by her communist, union member teacher.

And being indoctrinated by a communist dictator is better? Nah, I'll take the former.
