I reloaded XP Home on a Dell 2350 machine. It came with a OEM XP Home SP1 CD and it all installed correctly but it never gave the option to create a user. Instead it came directly to the "Owner" Account?

Also every time you start the computer the login page comes up for "Owner".

Any ideas how to avoid this? Could I use Nlite to change the way it installs?

Go the "User Accounts" Control Panel and create as many accounts as you wish. Then delete the "Owner" account. There will always also be a built-in "Administrator" account, but that's normally hidden in XP Home. You have to enter "Safe Mode' to use the Administrator account.

I strongly suggest making the new User Accounts "Restricted Users", rather than "Administrators". Use those limited User Accounts for everyday PC use and it will GREATLY decrease the change of a damaging virus, worm, or trojan infection.

I'd wager $100 that the 'owner' account is the name for the hidden admin account. I've had this happen several times over the years when there is not an option to create a username and password during setup. Do not delete the account, which you should not be able to anyhow. Simply create an additional user account and 'owner' will disappear from Normal mode.

Yes search for an automated install and edit the winnt.sif file in the i386 directory. Lots of options are available.

Yes "Owner" is suppose to be the hidden Admin account on Windows XP Home.

I created another account with Admin rights and restart the computer and now I get a logon screen for Owner and the new admin account. log in to the new admin account and deleted the Owner account. Yes it did let me do it. Restarted and now only have the new admin account but I'm still getting the log in screen.

Go back to user accounts and you can turn off that screen so you will not have to click your account to enter it.
