@ Amazon.com, enter in the coupon code BASCOM35 (and get 8 bucks worth of other stuff to get the free super saver shipping) and it works out pretty cheap. I certainly can't buy it here in AZ for less than 30 bucks it seems, and from what I remember from last time I was home in Boston, this is a pretty good price even in the local areas.

You can also get another 15% off by "subscribing" to it, and apparently it's extremely easy to just sign up for the 6 month option and cancel before it gets ordered, bringing the price down to 13 bucks shipped.

There's plenty of other good lookin' Maple Syrup products, they all seem to be eligible.

You can get smaller samplers for less, but you'll still probably spend $10 on a small amount.

It's only $25, and real maple syrup is WAY better than the fake junk.

being from New England, I can verify this..we used to tap trees and make it ourselves, but it is soooo much better than the imitation syrups in the stores!

You mean it's only 17 bucks

And also, for anyone even having to ask, the difference between fake maple syrup and real maple syrup is so ridiculous that they shouldn't even be considered similar products. It's like the difference between a really good microbrew and Pabst.

Grade A is lighter in color and also has a lighter taste. Grade B is darker with a richer flavor.

Personally my advice is to get, at the very least, Dark Amber (Grade A medium). Anything above that just doesn't taste maple-y enough to be worth it.

Most people end up just using grade B for everything, as long as it's from a pretty high quality farm it's the perfect combo of sweet and maple-y. Some of the discount places push their season too long and it starts to taste overpowering, though.

Agreed. But just about any grade of real maple is way better than the fake garbage. We have pancakes or waffles at least once a week and with two little ones, we go through syrup quickly (even when meting it out with care). The cheapest decent stuff I have found locally (in PDX) is at Costco and even that is pretty pricey. This sounds like a pretty good deal.

I agree - Grade A, IMHO, isn't really worth getting when compared to the others. Still head and shoulders above fake stuff, though.

FYI to everyone who has never had real maple syrup - if you're expecting the heavy, thick, sticky, sugary born-in-a-lab sweetness overload, you're not going to get it. There's a huge difference.

Man I love syrup(although apparently fake) I wonder how much I'll love, or hate the real stuff!

Has anyone ever done the subscription thing? Can you literally place an order to get 15% off and then cancel the subscription immediately?

You can do 6 months and then cancel a couple of weeks later. I don't think Amazon is going to like people canceling the subscription immediately after they get the discount.

I wouldn't want too many people canceling subscription immediately and having Amazon decide to discontinue subscription discounts (or just not let you cancel subscriptions).

First, you definitely can cancel it. Secondly, I think Amazon's gotta be aware that a lot of people are going to do this. They're banking on the few people who'll forget, or who genuinely want regular deliveries.

It's no different than Freecreditreport.com or a million other "try a free trial" gimmicks. They're not gonna get pissed if you cancel.

Yes, yes, yes, a thousand times yes!

Far, far superior to the corn-syrup based "pancake syrup" (such as Aunt Jemima brand, or Log Cabin brand) that is given out free at diners.

It's like fresh squeezed Orange Juice vs Tang. Sure, Tang's not terrible, but it's crap compared to fresh squeezed Orange Juice.

Grade A is not better or worse than grade B--it's just a matter of personal taste. I bought some grade A dark amber last time this deal came around and I'm enjoying it quite a bit.
