*buzzzzzzer* Sorry, incorrect. All your cheese is now forfeit to us.
Learn how to use a dictionary fool.

Yeah, it's proving a negative, and it's antithetical to one of the foundational tenets of scientific philosophy: falsifiability. It really doesn't matter though, because the same argument will be used ad nauseum in any thread on religion.
Yes, exactly.

I will respond by assuming you believe in god...

You can't say that something exists without proving it. It is your responsibility to prove that it exists if you say it exists. You cannot just say something is a certain way and it is true until someone proves you wrong. That's not how science is.
I don't believe in god.

Though I also don't believe in the scientific method. Simply because it was developed by humans and thusly flawed at the core.
Scientific method has been wrong COUNTLESS times. So really, don't approach a subject like this with such a rudimentary understanding.

That is the most hopelessly uneducated statement I have ever heard. The statement above shows you haven't the slightest clue what the scientific method actually is. Saying it's been "wrong" shows your ignorance in very flamboyant manner.

[edit]Edited to be less.... inflammatory [/edit]

What you just said has nothing to do with science. Maybe you should take a religion class when you get out of high school, there would be no need for this thread if you did.

If you're gonna post that kind of flamebait, you could at least get the wording right and attribute it properly to Gov J. Ventura...

BTW, Gov. Ventura is a fellow cheeselover.

In any event, I believe that there are two things you should never discuss in mixed company: Politics and Religion. Even the most simple statement can provoke the most obscene responses... and in here especially, it's just not worth it.

But seriously, saying the scientific method is flawed just shows you don't understand the scientific method. The core of the scientific method is that of revision, so an approximation of truth follows a ontogenic reevaluation of observational evidence. It simply makes no sense to say what you have said.

More pompous assumptions from The Learned One... which is funny, as so far you've proved you know very little besides humor. Please, continue to entertain us!

Why not believe in God/Jesus? I believe all I have to do is believe he exists/died for me and my sins and I am saved, that?s it. I don?t have to do any special works, don?t have to go to church, and don?t have to be a good person either. All I have to do is believe.

What have I got to loose?

Although I also believe that if you really believe in God you will try to follow his teachings although you don?t have to.

Oh yea I am not pushing this on anybody, so I don?t wana hear anything about I am being a pushy Christian. You don?t wana believe that?s your choice.

You should care. His original quote:
"Organized religion is a sham and a crutch for weak-minded people who need strength in numbers. It tells people to go out and stick their noses in other peoples business. I live by the golden rule: Treat others as you'd want them to treat you."
Is a fairly level-headed and sensible statement about evangelism and corporate religion in general.
Your bastardization and theft of 3 key words of his well-known statement is just a vapid and baseless statement that clearly depicts your level of understanding of religious concepts. Religious fundies latched onto the same 3 key words in an effort to demonize him. Congratulations on using the same tactics religious fundies use.

"I believe God exists."
"Prove it."
"You prove he doesn't."

And 'round and 'round we go.

This is not just "proving a negative".... it is an unrestricted negative, which is a claim to the effect that something doesn't exist anywhere. If you say you can't prove god doesn't exist, you can use that same logic on almost anything. you can say people can fly without any special aid. you can say you can walk through walls (just don't wanna show anyone).

the existence in god is illogical and defies all laws of science that everything else in this world follows.

I'm sure Blaise Pascal has something to say about the "What have I got to lose?" part. I'm sure God would love to have his creation believe in him out of intellectual apathy. "What have I got to lose, God? I'd rather not think about it, so I'll just follow suit." I'm of the opinion that, if there were indeed an attentive creator, that he wouldn't want his creation to abandon the very faculties he offered them: their brains. It seems you have forgotten what makes you unique in this world after all.

You don't need to prove nonexistence. And with no belief, there's no 'too late' for anything. I've never been spiritual or religious at all, but if anything I've become less so as I've aged.

Large groups of people justify what would otherwise seem crazy thoughts. If it was just one person who believed these things, society would label them insane.

If you say something exists, it is your reponsibility to prove it exists. You can't just say it exists cause *I* can't prove it does not exists.

i.e. I can run 50mph with no aid... what are you gonna say? "PROVE IT!" You won't believe me until I show you that I can run 50mph.
