God is omnipotent, so why did he create people that he knew were going to hell? Why not just create a bunch of good people and be done with it? Why did he create people at all?

Two words...Free Will.

God doesn't "Create bad people" People make a choice to be good or evil.

I realize that people have free will, however God knows everything, so he must have known that these people would choose to do wrong. SO why did he create them in the forst place if he knew they were going to hell?

Yes he does know that people will do evil things. He created us in his own image and then gave us free will because he wanted us to be able to CHOOSE to believe in him. He did not want a bunch of zombies that did everything w/o question.

Can you please modify the question to " Biblical Religions only ? "

And if you care to get a good answer to this question. Look into NON biblical religions. They explain this with less bigotry. Buddhism and Hinduism for a start ?

If you look at Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, etc., yes you will find a difference. All of their "God"s are dead. Ours is still alive, so how do you explain that?

On a different note, check this out. Hmm, Christians are crazy??

Well, this poses the question. How would you know if someone was a good person if the bad people didn't exist? Wouldn't the person who we define as indifferent become bad people in that case? What happens when we get rid of them, then do we judge people who aren't "as good" as others as bad? it's kind of like dividind shades of grey. I believe it's not so much that there are good people and bad people, I think it's just some people who don't fit into our definition of good are defined by degrees of badness.

Now, here's a question for you wise men...

why do they print the warning label not to turn the box upside down on the bottom of tiramisu boxes?

Well i believe there's so called bad people to test us through our life. We have free agency which god gave us and which satan wanted to take away. The reason they are with us and not with satan in hell is because they chose to follow jesus plan instead of satan's plan. At least that's what i believe but i'm not giving any scriptures or any of that because it's too much a waste of my time.

Are you seriously interested in an explanation, or is the purpose of this question to bash on/ antagonize christians? If it's the latter, please don't waste our time.

We are all bad people! There was only one good one! We all deserve to go to Hell.
That is the truth. I believe that God will not waste one of us! Not one! God does nothing in vain.
He is perfect, and we will be too, through His Son.

Maybe it wasn't God making bad people, maybe it was the people made by God being made bad by the Devil, so they can be his minions when they die and go to hell. Maybe Gods power is not enough for him to keep the will of the Devil from the earth, so evil is able to be spread.

I am not religious in any way, I'm more of a cynic.

Buddhism doesn't have a god - Buddhism isn't about explaining away the unknown with a fancy (and hole-ridden) story.

Hey guys, God is part of a faith and a belief and a way of life for most people. You don't have to agree with everyone else's way of life, but that doesn't mean you have the right bad-mouth and bash that belief. Most people will take offense to this, so please be kinder in your words.

And odz, to answer you question, there is no answer. I could just as easily ask "If God is all powerful, could he make a boulder he couldn't lift?"

It's a rhetoric that is made to cause debate and if you were serious about knowing something about that particualr religion, I would suggest either taking a class or going to that religion's place of worship and ask their leader/shepard/elder/religious guide. Don't ask here as all it will do is stir fire and upset people.

Please let this thread drop.

it's in a contract he made with satan

anyways, questions like this are kind of pointless. if you think about it, why should god even create all this stuff anyways. why not just sit back and kick it. *shrug* that's what i would do at least. then again, if i were omnipotent, maybe i wouldn't be so lazy.
