I love how the Florida-Times Union opens this article with:

"During the 2000 presidential election controversy, Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris repeatedly said she was only following state election laws when she accepted some ballots and discounted others and ultimately named fellow Republican George W. Bush the winner and next president."

Then follows immediately with:

"But Harris, Florida's top election official who gained international fame for her role in the 2000 election, was forced to resign her position yesterday after she acknowledged misinterpreting Florida election laws."

Now, doesn't that make you believe that she was forced to resign her position because of 'misinterpretations' she made during the election? Of course it does, but that's not what Harris has admitted of misinterpreting nor does the reason for her resignation have ANYTHING to do with the 2000 presidential election.

Harris was forced to resign because she "forgot to submit a formal resignation letter that would have allowed her to continue to serve as secretary of state while she campaigns for Congress."

Florida law requires of state officials who intend to run for federal office to submit a formal resignation letter BEFORE they qualify for the election if the terms of their current and new positions would overlap. The law "prevents a candidate from serving in two posts at once."

Harris did not submit this letter before she qualified as required by law, so she has no choice but to resign her position. This has NOTHING whatsoever to do with the presidential election, but the very liberal Florida-Times Union sure went out of its way to make it appear that way.

Guys I live in Jax and yes the Times Union is so bad that you cant even believe the movie times. It?s not even good at ?Yellow Journalism? let alone real news. And to think that at one tine I thought The Miami Herald was the worst piece of liberal trash there was.

BTW, I think blaming her for the fiasco in Floriduh just shows a scapegoat is always needed. Nothing was wrong with that ballot if you had a 6th grade education which means graduating one of our High Schools now.

Edit: Pepsei is right, she is a Republican. I was thinking of the person who approved the ballot when I said Democrat.
