So his ego won after all. Now the Republicans will get crapped on- justly- and with the shutdown and Syria, it may be time they are willing to throw Trump under the short bus. Handing over Stone documents by Nunes' Republicans may be a sign that they are thinking about a divorce or amputation, whichever is most appropriate.

How many times can Trump go "I won't sign" "Yes I will" "No, I won't!" before we all just agree to stop listening to him?

That’s kind of hard to do when he’s holding the bomb with a lit fuse.

Man Trump really fucked them on this one. First he took all the blame in advance taking away all leverage. Then Pence told them it would be signed. They passed it and then left for Christmas. Then Ann Coulter, Fox News and the rest said mean things about Trump.

And here we are.

There's gonna be one hell of a meltdown on twitter when Congress overrides his veto.

They can't override his veto, simply because there is not enough people in DC to vote for it. Most of Congress went home this morning. We are going to stay closed until they come back from break.

I don't understand what the issue is. Why can't congress pass a bill both parties like and simply tell the president, verbally, that the bill includes money for the wall. It's not like trump actually reads the bill, it's not like he's got advisors that are competent enough to understand legislation.

Why not do what the president does and simply lie about it. Trump gets his win and everyone else is happy.

Bob Corker's exchange with reporters about Trump vetoing the CR suggests that he now views the Trump presidency as something like theater of the absurd.

https://www.cnn.com/politics/live-n...ember-2018/h_3feedb8e44fe5b36eff6923f717081b2.

“Well Mitch is on the phone with Paul right now so..." *starts chuckling*

Reporter: Why are you laughing?

Corker: “Well, why not?”

Reporter: Are you surprised by this?

Corker: “No, not really. I mean look at Syria yesterday... this is elementary relative to the decision made yesterday in such a precipitous way right, I mean you’re talking about a major policy decision made in the same manner right so this is something that whatever happens we all know we’ll move beyond. What happened yesterday in Syria which is a similar kind of decision making process is going to affect things things for the long haul.”

Reporter: What is the path forward on the CR though?

Corker: “I don’t know. Y’all have fun. I’m getting ready to drive to Chattanooga.”

Reporter: What’s the guidance from leadership?

Corker: “They have no guidance ... I saw senators heading out going home knowing that even if we vote they’re going to give folks time to get back ... I think they’re just sorta swirling around over there”

Then Ted Cruz walked by and said: “I think we need to follow through with funding for the border”

Corker laughed again: “You can’t make this stuff up”

Yeah, the situation is totally FUBAR. Anyway, going home now. Have fun. Cya!

Tom Cotton needs to go the way of Paul Ryan and disappear into the night, never to be seen or heard from again.

cheeto threatened that either Dems give him his wall or the government will shut down for a very long time....I wonder how long it will be before the GOP give in and help override cheeto's veto?

Side note: Stock futures swung over 100 points to the downside when he tweeted this. So much winning..

If I was granted the power to remove any single person from Congress it would be that huge irredeemable piece of shit.

This GOP house is nothing but subservient when it comes to Trump so that's not going to happen. The bill with $5B in wall money will fail in the Senate and the government will shut down until the new year when the next congress is seated. The Dems will pass a clean CR as the first order of business then the ball is back in the orange asshole's court.

Unless this happens: GOP Senator pushes nuclear option.

Oh, well. He wouldn’t lie.
McConnell is not really the person who truly gets to decide this. It mostly comes down to Senators such as Jeff Flake, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, Rand Paul and the like. (With a number of Republican Senators potentially worried about a loss of power and influence if the filibuster is abolished on top of other issues.)

Even assuming they are all willing to show up for the vote, it only takes two Republican Senators saying no to abolishing the filibuster to cause the nuclear option to fail. (Resorting to the nuclear option in this way and publicly failing would be an especially ugly result politically for the Republicans.)

What you don't think they'd like to see Medicare for All, the Green New Deal, 8 states admitted, and the congressional apportionment formula altered to dramatically increase the size of the HOR approved by both houses and signed into law by President O'Rourke? That's the scale of R fears about ending up out of control of both branches and the presidency we're talking about. So no, many R senators aren't in a rush to eliminate the legislative filibuster.

I don't think they have enough Senators to go along even if they did that. Especially after Trump fucked them all by having Pence tell them he'd sign, saying so himself, then changing his mind at the last minute because Ann Coulter and Fox News said bad things about him.

Think about that for a second. The POTUS will not listen to the men and women closest to him that are there for their knowledge and experience to advise him but he will listen to right wing pundits and adjust policy based on their displeasure.

Prediction: Senate goes nuclear and when the Dems manage to recapture the Senate, the lame duck GOP reinstates all filibuster power on the way out the door, and the incoming Democrats leave it all in place. You know, so the nation can heal.

Well according to our administrator with Tuesday and now Monday being federal holidays our agency won’t officially furlough folks until Wednesday. Basically only critical exempt work will be going on anyway.

This is a bad time of year for a potentially lengthy shutdown. Paychecks will not go out and it will require congress to pass legislation for back pay (although they usually do). Plus Christmas bills and around here property taxes are due it’ll be a crunch for anyone living paycheck to paycheck.

1) Lots of GOP congressmen don't believe people live paycheck to paycheck despite ample evidence to the contrary

2) They think government workers and contractors not getting paid is an assumed risk and bacsically ya'll can go screw

To the hundreds of thousands of federal employees who will work without pay or be furloughed over the holidays if there is a government shutdown, Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) says it is just part of the risk of working in public service.

Meadows, the chairman of the House Freedom Caucus and a leading conservative voice urging President Trump not to accept a short-term spending bill absent funding for a border wall, was responding to reporters who asked about Transportation Security Administration and Border Patrol agents who would be required to continue working on Christmas without getting a paycheck.

“It’s actually part of what you do when you sign up for any public service position," Meadows said. "And it’s not lost on me in terms of, you know, the potential hardship. At the same time, they know they would be required to work and even in preparation for a potential shutdown those groups within the agencies have been instructed to show up.”

Kind'a like "when they go low, we go and do exactly what those lowlifes hoped we'd do" so they can keep doing it to us over and over again.

Being reliable does have its drawbacks at times.
