FCC wants to know that man's location. FCC has now triangulated that man's location.
Wonder how many watts he's transmitting at.
You have ham radio guys trying to get around the world with like 5 watts. Then you have CB guys pumping out 10kw from a truck to talk to the neighbour lol.
Probably 200-500W carrier as that's pretty common for most mobiles without modded electrical systems.
Just like those ridiculous trucks with 50,000W "audio" systems, the CB junkies often go higher. Sometimes as much as a full power broadcast station! Not ERP but power out of the box. At keydowns, it's a contest where they pull up next to one another and key up at the same time on the same frequency while repeating a short phrase or word over and over. Someone far away listens and video tapes the receiver and the "winner" is the one that "walks on" the other with the clearly audible keyword.
Sometimes fire/arcing occurs on the driven elements at this power!
This is what it looks and sounds like on the remote end:
Pill class refers to the number of pills (transistors, typically 100W each). That contest is very common. The broadcast power class typically uses transmitting tubes to reach those power levels. Along with a V8 engine and shit ton of alternators as full transmit power of 70,000W may draw 175,000W!
Weird hobby for sure!
EDIT: With EVs and higher voltages I can only imagine what the car audio guys/gals and radio powerkings are gonna do!
