Try the wireless mouse remote on sale here http://www.recotondirect.com/ . Just scroll down the page. I got one at this price and it works pretty good. Also comes with software to allow keystroke commands to be mapped to the buttons. Peacefully coexists with the existing serial mouse also.

What do you mean? The software that comes with it is crap. If that's what you used no wonder it doesn't work. What OS are you using?

Did you try maX10 software and connect your MouseRemote the way maX10 says to and NOT the way X10 says?

I have 2 X10 MouseRemotes and they both work extremely well with the maX10 software. Controls my DVD player software and every other piece of software on my computers. Both are running Win 98, but it is supposed to work with Win 2k also.

I use Girder 3.0. And yes it works flawlessly. I got a universal remote that I programmed to control my other AV components and now I can just sit back and hit buttons on ONE remote and everything just works There's also a bunch of presets for Girder so you don't have to waste time trying to figure out Winamp commands (you can find them on the Winamp dev site anyways).

That's strange...

The way X10 says to connect the mouse is mouse->X10 receiver->computer, so your mouse is not directly connected to your PS/2 port. This way sucks.

But using maX10 your mouse stays connected to the PS/2 port on your computer, and the X10 receiver connects to a serial port. So one would think that as far as your computer knows, the mouse is the same as it ever was, and there is just an extra serial device, which doesn't even show up in device manager.

workin:Ill try that

Update: tried it and doesnt work. I hooked the reciever to the serial port and then the optical mouse to the ps2 port what am I doing wrong here?
When I hook the optical mouse through the serial port mose goes wacky. It opens up everything uncontrolably

Where is your optical mouse normally connected? Doesn't it connect to the mouse PS/2 port on your computer? Assuming it does.... you probably have the original software that came with the MouseRemote still installed on your machine.

1. Make sure your mouse is connected to the PS/2 mouse port on your computer, if that is where it is supposed to be connected.

2. Remove any X10 software you may have installed.

3. Turn off your computer.

4. Connect the MouseRemote receiver to a serial port on your computer.

5. Restart your computer.

6. Install/run the maX10 software.

7. Follow the instructions that come with maX10 to get everything configured.

That should do it.

In the maX10 configuration select whichever com port you have the receiver connected to.

Glad I could help. Did you read the documentation for the maX10 software? It's not too hard to program, as I recall there are a few examples to go by. There's also more info on the maX10 web site.

Let us know how it works out or if you have any problems.
