Remote Desktop

I just got Vista onto my laptop a couple months ago. Due to a project at work, I've been working on I've been forced to use remote desktop, however the machines I've been using to access the other machines have all had XP On them. So as a test I've been trying to set up a system in my house to fiddle around with.

I tried using Microsoft's website found here:

which worked fairly well, at least on the host end (XP)... but I'm clueless as to how to set up the client (Vista) end.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It works exactly the same. I remote desktop home (xp to vista) all day with no problems.

I recommend the updated client as it supports 32-bit color and a few other features.

I don't have any problem RD'ing from my home PCs (using Vista) to my office PC using WinXP. Seems to work fine for me.

Which version of Vista are you trying to connect to? it's not supported on any of the home versions

UltraVNC is free, and works fine from any version of XP to Vista either way Supports scaling, file transfer, etc.

Remote desktop works both ways just fine, XP to Vista and Vista to XP.

You likely need to provide more details.

On the remote "Office" end, what's the host PC: XP Pro I assume? Is there a router or server involved? How are those configured?

On the client "Home" end, what's the client PC: Vista Home, Home Premium, Business, Ultimate? Is there a router or server involved? How are those configured?
